Default 01-05 GS430 vs. 06 GS430

Is 3rd gen GS430 that much slower than 2nd gen GS430? I never came across the numbers of new GS4, but saw in Automobile mag yesterday that 2006 GS430 stands 6.8sec 0-60, and 15.2sec 1/4 mile. Why would that be? Weight difference?

How could they be faster with high 5s then? I thought 01-05 GS4 is like 5.6sec.

I've never heard of a 3rd gen GS going to the track. I'd be curious what they run. I still can't believe GS350 runs 14.1x...

Yes they do; they can even run high 13's (13.9 actually) with a intake. That's what one stock IS 350 ran on track day. It's not hard for me to believe that the 2nd GS430's can beat the 3rd Gens. The 3rd Gens are heavier (I believe) and bigger, therefore slower. According to this link I think the 2nd Gens have them beat: http://www.theautochannel.com/vehicl.../russ0129.html

Personally my best time at the track was 14. 62 . I'm very confident that if I can get my launches down without spinning out the whole I can pull a 14.4x and I'm stock except for exhaust. With headers and a good intake I can imagine what the GS430 can do.

Automobile mags times are ALWAYS around 1 second slower than everybody else. So that time for Automobile is right, that means about 5.8-6.0 for the GS 430 3GS.

3GS is actually only about 40lbs or so more than the 2GS. And the 3GS has an additonal gear, thus times are about the same 2GS to 3GS, it is honestly a drivers race.

THe GS 350, is a PROBLEM. Possibly faster than both!

the GS350 is rated at 303hp by new standards, right? the 2nd gen GS430 would be about 288 under new standards, right?

sounds like they've got us by about 15hp.........

let's do avg, not the "fastest" you can get. gs430 has always been around 6 sec

the 6 speed tranny makes the car faster, together with the new ecu. period

Actually, the 2nd gens are the same as the 400's at 300hp. One of the things that changed is the torque now (430) is at 325. I think the IS 350 have a little more hp. I think 306 or 309, I could be wrong.

..but yes, the IS 350's are a problem.
