- At 89k miles the power window switches on the drivers side seem to have broken. They're still functional but they have absolutely no resistance anymore... they just 'flop' around and thus feel crappy, plus the auto up and down no longer works.

I had this same problem. What it is is that the button for the window breaks off from the mechanism which means there is no resistance because the button isnt attached to anything and the windows are still auto but since the button is broken when you push the button down it doesnt push the mechanism far down enough to activate auto. If you do it right you can actually remove the button and put it back in place with ease but the only way to fix the problem is to replace the whole thing

150K... (miles)
No major problems, couple of ball joints / wheel bearings, but that is just maintenance. A little moisture in one headlight, and drivers window is a little slower then the others. I'm do all my own work, and I can usually tell when something is starting to go, I just replace it right away, and it's opposite if applicable. I used to have an Acura TL with 192k (miles) on it, and I thought it was reliable, it's got nothing on the Lexus.
I drive A LOT! about 50k (miles) a year, I'm gonna see if I can get 1 000 000 kilometers (in Canada) out of her. Currently at about 240 000 kilometers.

Purchased a 99 GS400 with 65K and all dealer records in 07'.
75K miles Lower Balljoints and outer tie rods $260 did labor myself
75K miles new KYB's and NF210 springs $700 parts and labor
89K miles leaking evaporator core assymbly $3000 parts and labor
91K miles starter died luckily at home $340 did labor myself
Currently at 95K and I have something knocking in he drivers front suspension, the driver door has something rattling inside it when I go over bumps and the door sounds like it is going to fall off. Something around the top of the rear door seal or head liner squeaks or rattles all the time. driving me crazy. I can't find what it is. I plan on doing the timing belt water pump service around 100k. I had a 95 acura legend with 180k with not nearly this many problems and definitly without all the rattles. Im not sure I will buy another Lexus but Im locked in for a while with all the money I have dumped into it at this point.

40k: ignition switch failure...loss of all electricals while driving, but engine kept running till got it home for a tow the next day.
50k: moisture in factory headlamps
90k: tweeter crackle in AM only...better with volume increase. Weird.
100k: coin box cover broke
150k: headlamps yellowing/fogging appearance
160k: NAV unit won't display proper settings of temp changes, etc., when interior temps are below 40F (if it sits out overnight in the Winter)...fixes itself once it warms up, and the car is restarted.
175K: Sunroof inner shade cover rattles in the fully closed position (leave it cracked open a 1/2" to mitigate rattle/squeak)
190k: driver's window switch broke (the plastic switch itself)
200k: water leakage from a/c evaporator case...wet floor on driver's carpet on hot/muggy days with lots of A/C use.
200k: hood latch/cable failure. Replaced DIY
225k: driver's seat and center console leather drying and cracking from use, in spite of years of conditioner...just plain wore out.
Still LOVE this car!!!! After driving a car for nearly 10 years, this is far less repairs than I've had on all other brands of cars I've owned, including Hondas (CRX & Accords)
If it ever got totaled, I'd get on eBay and get another one ASAP, especially now that even low mileage Used GS400's or GS430's cars go for lower prices vs. new plastic econobox cars. Saving $10K over new (and insurance!) buys a LOT of gasoline.
Still averaging 26-27 mpg on the interstate at 65mph, with cruise control, and tires pumped up for decreased rolling resistance...that's still pretty good for a V-8! Some 4-bangers only get 30-33mpg...not a big enough difference to step down in comfort and luxury (for me).
