Default New member/ questions.

Hey everyone, love the site and info. I just purchased a 1999 gs 400 with 94k miles. Paid 14500. Came fully loaded with Nav, spoiler ect. It's the pearl white with ivory interior, pics coming soon. I have purchased a k&N cold air intake and also a new exhaust system (in & out), thinking about a chip but not sure. I had one minor questions maybe someone could shine some light on.

I have noticed when I come to a stop my RPM tac moves up and down within the idle zone. It stays at the normal idle zone when car is in park. Does anyone know why it moves like that?

Also should I purchase a warranty? It is through GE, covers a lot but costs 2k for 4 years.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

How many times does it move up and down? If it's just once, read on. I just posted a thread about this maybe a month ago. When I slow down to a complete stop, just before stopping, my RPMs pop up from 600 to about 1,000, and then come right back down to 600. It does this every time I stop. I stopped by my Lexus dealer a few weeks ago and asked the head mechanic about it. He said it's completely normal. He explained that it's basically the engine downshifting into first gear. Hope this helps.

I asked the "chip" question and was informed by many that there isn't one available for the GS.

Postings have revealed that cleaning the throttle body settles down the idle, when in gear.

Thanks Guys! I also replaced the spark plugs with bosch platinum+4. I may have just wasted $52 but I'll just keep thinking it makes a difference.

From what I hear the Bosch plugs run hot and not suited for Nissan, Honda, and Toyotas.....I always stick to NGK Platnuim plugs..or OEM dealer replacement plugs...
