Modifying gauge cluster backlight PICS!
so last night i took apart my gauge cluster to the last drop...as you can see ive alredy done the LEDS on the climate control so gauges are next....
it looks like the bulb that lights up the gauges is powered by AC voltage converted on the gauge circuit board. im going to trace the incoming DC from the wiring harness and power my LEDs thru there. i should be able to keep the dimming option as it works on the climate control.
however, im really afraid to remove the needles so i can have my friend make me new faces for the gauges.... how cool would that be!!!!!!!!!
but the needle is in the way... does anyone know how i can take them out without screwing anything up.. ???????????
BTW another cool mod is replacing the LEDS in the gauge panel that indicate what position your shifter is in. from the boring green to whatever you want.. ultraviolet, blue, white, etc. any 3mm LED will work.. im making mine allll white.
ill take some pics of the taken apart gauges tonight.

Lxogood(Ken), had this lighting mod done on his car and it looked sweet! He probably could answer your questions in reference to any problems you may encounter!

I love the idea of changeing the lights but damn on a long drive home one night .... Those are bright ! maybne stick something back there ..
All mine are red which looks coo but I need to chage out the lights that you would change out to regular use to see
