Default GS 300 or GS 400(Best to Buy)

Hi, this is my first time posting and I just signed up yesterday but I've read tons of post and many topics, im a search first person but I think my question is more opinion based.

Which car is the better buy/value?

1999 GS 300:
-$12500
-80K miles
-BLACK WITH TAN LEATHER INTERIOR
-oil change ever 3000 miles

1999 GS 400:
-$10,995
-117k miles
-Black with gray leather interior

Im no car expert, but i appreciate any suggestions. Thank You

By FI you mean turbocharger right?

Is the 117k 400 a huge concern when compared to a 80k on the 300?

same year (and assuming same condition roughly) ALWAYS go for the bigger motor. Otherwise you WILL get sick of getting passed by turbo'ed hondas on the highway.

Also which ever one you choose, most importantly, make sure the water pump and timing belt are NEW before you buy.

GS400. The 300 will be ok. But if you are looking to save gas, its not a big difference. But the car will be a lot slower. GS4, and it's cheaper.

Unless you plan to go FI your best bet is to get the 400. Besides the car comes with 300hp out of the box, it's a pretty good starting point if you want to add some power. I think the guys on here that don't plan to go FI wish they had bought the 400.

Well if I were you I would check a car fax and if you have AAA I would take it to them to do an inpection it's like $80 but could save you a big hassle. At 10 grand you would be stealing that Lexus GS400 $3000 below wholesale book just make sure everything is ok before you decide to make a purchase. The price on the is pretty good on the GS3. Just giving you a heads up.

BKnight, FI stands for "force induction" as in turbocharging or supercharger. Go with the 400 and welcome to the list.

I'd go for the GS400. Use the saved money a major tune up (if one has not been done already @ 90K).

Would the 400 still have a higher value than the 300, say 3-5 years from now when the 117k jump to maybe 160k?

I called Lexus and ask for the service history of the 400, and the lady told me the last time the car was checked by lexus was in 2004 for something arm related, and before that in 2002. Is this a cause for concern?

Everybody thanks for the help and the welcome.
