Default Need opinions on starter issue asap

Hello All

I did some research and I just want to make sure its my starter before I jump head first into this. Its sounds expensive and painful and a PITA. Before the car (99' gs400) would have problems starting but if I put a jump pack on it, it always would start up, so I thought it was a parasitic draw somewhere or a bad battery. 3 batteries later I was pretty sure it was the alternator so I put a new one in. Hadn't had any real problems except occasionally when trying to start it it wouldn't do anything, then would have to turn the key back to off then try it again a few times and it would crank over and start. So now the battery is charged all the way and it is also a new battery, and when I turn the key it doesnt do anything just makes like a large electrical click like a relay would make you know and it doesn't do anything. The battery is new anf fully charged everything lights up inside and nothing seems wrong except the starter isnt turning. So is new starter or relay or something?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the exact same issue I had with my '99 GS400 ... had to have the starter replaced.

does it make a "clicking" sound??? On my car, it would just click and not start. If I click it a few times, eventually it will start. I had my starter replaced recently and no more problems.

Yea its a clicking sound, just clicks and does nothing else. Like I have to take the key to off and then try again a ton of times and hope it finally goes.

But yea sounds like the starter then, and from what I read its is not something very fun.

Thanks guys! I already ordered the starter and its suppose to be here tommorrow.
