PDC Kit Reviewed
I was in a wreck a month or so back and recently got my car back from the shop.
I decided since the car was going to be painted I might as well add a PDC kit to it.
I did a few searches and found the kits vary greatly in terms of sensors and features.
I decided to just go with a basic, audible only, just rear sensors.

I went with http://www.reversebackingsystems.com and I have to say they had really great customer service. I called their 800 number and asked a bunch of questions, they were all answered and they even offered to send me info regarding painting the sensors that I could forward to my body shop.
My body shop did a nice job installing the kit and painting it. I had a lot of dimples and scratches on my bumper (imagine parallel parking in San Francisco for six years) so hopefully with the PDC kit on this will no longer happen. At least from my own carelessness
I will post some pics later.
Over all the impression on the kit is as advertised.
It has a range from 8 to 1.5 Feet. So when you get the solid tone you know you have about 12” or so before you smack whatever is behind you.
Didn’t go with the LED display option, figured you better be looking behind you when you are backing up and not the LED display.
The speaker from the kit was installed in the rear deck (I don’t have my stock sub, custom Sub enclosure) and it’s definitely loud enough from back there.
The only thing that was not included in the kit was a wire grommet.
A small hole was drilled into the trunk and all sensor wires we fed through the rubber grommet. Then you just connect the control box to your sensors and run a wire from the reverse light for the power. Figure about an hour to install.

RE: Door yes replaced both doors.
The inside front panel was replaced $1600.. Just for ONE Panel.
Total bill was over $7K Her Ins took full responsibility.

How much was it to install those parking sensors? I've been thinking about putting sensor on my grandfathers GS since he said he needs it. I actually got 6 sensors for the car...(2 in front, and 4 in the rear)... I know that it is better to get them professionally installed...so would you recommend taking it to a body shop? Please pm me or just reply to this post...I may check back time to time...but I am usually on the 3GS forum...heh

Figure about an hour for your shop to install.
That does not include paint and repair on the bumper (if your has damage)
Figure another hour or so if you are installing and running wires from the front bumper as well.
So it really depends on your shop hourly rate.
The guy that I bought the kit from says most customers get theirs installed by stereo shops not body shops. Not sure if that route is cheaper or not.
