how do i know if my car has Nak/Bose system?
hello, i have a 2000 gs300. when i bought it, the audio system came with a stock headunit and a cd changer. However, if my car do have a premium audio system, wouldnt it say nak or bose somewhere on the front of the headunit?....the headunit does not have any name brand on the front, im assuming this is just the normal one?. i do know that the 10'sub in the back is a pioneer, does that mean that the rest of the speaker components are pioneer?. thanks.

the nak is a bit better than the pioneer, but it's nothing like the difference between the mark levenson (01+) and pioneer. ml sounds so much better. and yes if you don't see nak anywhere, you have pioneer
also, i THINK (please correct me) for 98-00, if you have nav, you don't have nak, and vise versa. someone please confirm?

Henry is right. From 98-00, you couldn't get navigation and Nakamichi. You could have either one or the other, or neither, but not both. If you have navigation, you have the stock Pioneer system. If you don't have navigation, look on the face of your stereo and it will say Nakamichi if you have it. If not, you have the stock Pioneer system.

The Nakamichi system sounds pretty darned good for stock. It could use a more controlled subwoofer (as opposed the the cheap 'free air' sub it utilizes), but otherwise the system has a smooth sound at low to moderate sound levels. At higher volumes it sounds less stable; the bass drops off relative to the mids & highs.
