Default Stu stu stuttering stereo?

Had an odd experience today... actually for two days.
I have an 02 Sport Design, non ML. Just the plain old "permium stereo".

I had the stereo on preset #4, 97.1FM. For two days it would stu stu stutter. It would play for about 5 secinds, then cut out and then play again, then cut out. for a second. The FM indicator would go off while it was doing this. I attributed it to a weak signal except get this...
When I manually tune in that station it works just fine! Then when I set that station to preset 6 and put a different statio non preset 4... nothing happens. Everything works fine.

Hows that for odd? I'm fairly certain that it's not the station itself, I drove one of my other vehicles and did'nt notice it, and my home reciever is picking it up like every other day.

Isn't it odd that manually tuned it would come in fine , and moving it down the presets I have no problems?
I listen to XM most of the time, so it wasn't a big deal, but odd for sure. Any ideas?

Has to do with frequency stored for tuning. Just reprogram it .. manually tune and sore at location 4 (that was your preset?). If after reprogramming it still does not cooperate you may have a problem with the preset. If things are fine, the set frequency for 4 may have bled off.

Thanks. Thats the first time I've ever heard that on a radio before, and I've had more than my share of them! I reprogrammed it to 6. I'll put it back to 4 and see if the problem comes back.

So is it common for this head unit?

It has to do more with the type of memory used. The presets are stored in 'DRAM' type memory as opposed to EEPROMs. If you disconnect the battery the memory is lost. It is not uncommon to observe the drift that you have come across. I recall at least one other post.

Most of the GS owners reset the ecu frequenlty (and loose seat+radio memory) almost regularly
