been a long journey for the HRE :( :(
(yups the first time i have CURBED a wheel in my entire life) the worst feeling it is just undescribable! and its even worse for me cuz i admit haha i am pretty **** when it comes to the car.
you folks have no idea how mad i was...i knew it right when i hit the pothole
i try to calm myself down (i even curled 90 with ease!!) cuz i've had the hre on for over a year already and it was bound to happen sooner for later
what am i gonna do? decided to fix the curb and i have a few really really minor blemishes that i will take care of. there is this place in hawaii called Freddy's (heard good things about them) so hopefully he has come through for me as well. "knock on wood" *crossing fingers*
if it still not acceptable IMO then...I will sell the wheels and get another set of HRE (840R or the same old 540R (haha you have no idea how much i love this wheel!! )
if they do fix the curb well I will redo all the wheels (buff out blemish on all lips) and repaint centers to millenium silver (color match) or charcoal color. I guess for now...my car is gonna be running on stock wheels for a while

It doesnt look like the damage is too bad so they should be able to fix it to almost new. Good luck Cody, and I like the idea of painting the centers, I think charcoal would look great

I think I remember reading yours were clearcoated. If so make sure that the place that is going to fix them does reclearcoat and a good qualty one like HRE and big companies, there are many types of clearcoat with some being very thick and nasty. I'm sorry to see this man I really am. If you decide to paint the centers I would do the charcol or graphite center..

Sorry to hear that Cody. I think many on CL can empathize with you.
Now this would be quite a baller move.

that hurts, cody, sorry to hear that. but you should have seen the curb rash i got on my hre wheels. ask neo, it wasn't pretty at all.... far worse.... as long as it could be fix it's all good
but yeah, if i remember right you have clear coat, that's a lot harder coz' the shop will now have to strip of all clear coat before polishing out the imperfections, and they need to put on high quality clear again and make sure it doesn't peel. that's the hardest part. polished surface is very smooth, which is not good for painting, and you are trying to make clear coat stick on it hard.

My 840Rs were curbed worse than that and were fixed so that you can barely see any damage at all (in fact I really have to look for the chunk out of the tire).
Get 'em fixed.

Don't think I ever took any 'after' but ask Ed (Lexforlife) who inspected 'em at NOPI last year based on this post, he was amazed.

I can feel your pain, a real bummer. I had some anodized aluminim pieces I was installing on my bug when I let the the wrench slip and scratch one of them. I was SO angry with myself. I'm sure it can be repaired without too much cost.

i guess it's a "blessing" that there are no clearcoat, that's a lot easier to deal with
