Gents,
Here in Atlanta - the dealers perform services prior to what is recommended in the factory Lexus manual. Last but not least, there seem to be a couple of things that don't make sense and I'm hoping someone here can help shed some light on these subjects. Here we go...
Tranmission Fluid and Filter Change (not flush): Every 15K. Seems to me a flush would be a lot more beneficial than a fluid and filter change since a 'change' only replaces about 50% of the transmission fluid (the rest is still in the torque converter). BTW, I was also told the ATF was a Toyota only spec and you CAN NOT use any of the Mercon Fluids or Synthetics. Any comments?
Fuel Filter Change: Dealer NEVER recommends changing. Huh?
Coolant Flush: Every 30K. Schedule seems right to me.
Differential Change: Every 30K. Schedule seems right to me.
Brake Fluid Flush: Every 30K. Schedule seems fine.
Plugs: Every 60K. Schedule seems fine.
Timing Belt: 90K. I understand the GS4 is an interference (vs. non-interference) engine meaning if the belt breaks your valves crash into the pistons leading to a new engine. This seems to be a mandatory NEED-TO-DO at 90K.
Power Steering Flush: When should you do this?
Oil and Filter: It's done every 3K-3.5K anyway so no concerns with this subject.
Air Filter: I only do this when it looks bad - mileage makes zero difference to me.
Anything missing here?
Thanks folks,
Eric
