Does anyone know which DVD Navigation I would need to upgrade the 01 DVD Navigation for the GS?

I have the 03CY Navigation Upgrade for North America Part # 86271-33041 ver 3.2 but when I put it in my DVD navigation player I get the Error Message.

Do I have the right DVD?

I just did a search this past week and decided that we need ver 3.1. Anyone out there share the same opinion?

Also, I saw some nice prices on eBay for ver 3.1.

from what i read don't get dvd with part number that ends in 4x, that's for the 4th generation. you have a geneation 3 nav. get something that ends in 3x

I thought that the DVD Navigation was the newest ****. I didn't think they made a different navigation system...

Dvd navigation is the newest. Now they have 3rd generation dvd and 4th generation DVD. 2001-2004/5? Run on the 3rd generation.

both teh 3rd and 4th gen nav are dvd based.... the 4th generation started with the 04 ls430, and then on 05 it's on most of the lexus lineup (most, not all, for example i don't think the is300 has the 4th gen nav). the 4th gen system has the bluetooth and it's also have voice recognition.

on your nav, it's dvd but i bet it doesn't have voice recogniztion. the nav layout is also a little bit different.

i must be an idiot...because now i'm confused..i need to upgrade my nav dvd...i have a 2002 gs430 w/ the 01 disc...would i need to upgrade to version 3.1 or 4.1?

you need the 3.x ones

unless you have a 05 gs (which might have the 4th gen nav i am not 100% sure), you have the 3rd gen. the 4th gen came out in 04, equipped on the ls430. in 05 they got into other models like the sc430, es330, etc...

yeh i know.. but hey.. i see a lot of people made the same mistake i did... hopefully i can find some one who made a mistake with the 4th generation one

What's the latest version/map dvd disc that would go in a 2002 SC430? Also, are these discs updated every year?

I tried my "new" ver 3.1 disc in my '02 GS, but got a disc error.

Any ideas on what my ver 3.1 DVD is good for?! As I understand, it's for a 4th gen nav, but what's the 4.x ver then?!
