wasn't there a DYI somewhere on this forum on how to do that? It looked like a PITA, but still doable if you really want the clear lens. I also think the 01+ are better

ahh yes... the only thing is u can do the LED mod with pre 01' taillights a lot easier since theres different bulbs for brake and lowbeam light, where as the 01' + are dual filament bulb.

There is a diy here on how to do it if you search. I think the 01+ tails look 1000x better than the old ones. For a little more than that you can get new 01+ tails. I would go that route
