Default GS Aero parts fitment feedback thread

In an effort to utilize the collective knowledge of CL members who have added aero parts to their car, it would benefit other members who are contemplating the purchase of parts to know some details up front.

If possible, please include the following info:

Car- 1GS (93-97), 2GS (98-05), 3GS (06+)
Car Year - Just in case there is some quirk about a certain year.
Part type - full kit, bumper, sideskirts, spoiler, roof spoiler, grille, lips, ...
Part make - the manufacturer of the part
Part construction - polyurethane, FRP, fiberglass, ...
Source - where did you get the part
Price - if available
Fitment - crash bar shaving, crash bar removal, bolts alignment, any quirks on how it lines up, smoothness of surface, prep work requirement, ...
Installation - any install tips?
Durability - how it holds up (driving mishaps, scrapes, bumps, ...)
Notes - anything else to add

Some things to note:

1. Tolerance is subjective. To some, a part will seem to fit well while to another, it is not acceptable. Please be aware of this when reading the feedback.

2. Leave only first hand knowledge. If the part is on your car or you helped a friend put the part on the car or something of this nature, then add the feedback. Try not to post what you "heard".

3. If you have feedback, please feel free to enter it. This is not, however, a discussion thread so please refrain from discussing someone else's feedback. The thread should be as concise as possible.

Let me know if there is anything other useful info that I've left out.

Thanks.

To start, I can add what I know about the following:

Car - 2GS
Car Year - 1998
Part type - front lip
Part make - TTE
Part construction - polyurethane
Source - Carson
Price - $300
Fitment - Lines right up, no gaps, no major prep work needed
Installation - My shop used polyurethane to attach the lip (in addition to the screws). This is he type used to attach windshields to the car. Very durable.
Durability - I've scraped and bumped this lip and no cracks or separation yet.

Car - 2GS
Car Year - 1998
Part type - Roof spoiler
Part make - UGO
Part construction - FRP
Source - Carson
Fitment - Lines right up, no gaps, surface was excellent, no major prepwork
Installation - My shop used polyurethane to attach the spoiler. This is he type used to attach windshields to the car. Very durable.
Durability - No issues since it is away from everything.

Car - 2GS
Car Year - 1998
Part type - Spoiler
Part make - Win Racing
Part construction - FRP
Source - Carson
Fitment - Lines right up, no gaps, surface was a bit wavy, some prepwork needed. To get it perfectly smooth would require more fiberglass build up. The small screws on the attachment bracket did not fit well. I am not sure if the screws are an isolated incident, though.
Installation - My shop used polyurethane to attach the spoiler. This is he type used to attach windshields to the car. Very durable.
Durability - No issues since it is away from everything.

Car - Toyota Aristo V300VE
Car Year - 2000
Part type - carbon fiber grill
Part make - Abflug
Part construction - fiberglass with carbon fiber overlay
Source - Japan
Price - $450
Fitment - Lines right up, mesh came preinstalled, all the mounting points lined up right, but you might need longer screws plus some extra large washers that weren't supplied with the grill.
Installation - Did everything in 15 minutes. The longest time was to find matching screws/washers.
Durability - Only problem comes when you want to open the hood and you use the grill as leverage, you might feel like the fiberglass/cf might not be able to take the weight as they bend slightly. But it's held up so far.

Car- 2nd Gen
Car Year - 1998
Part type - full kit
Part make - Win Racing
Part construction -FRP
Source - Carson Toyota
Price - $3200
Fitment - fit perfectly, no modification necessary. Rear spoiler was a bit wavy, shop didnt fix this but when I have the Wald kit put on I will have them smooth it out. The clamps to hold the spoiler down were kind of cheap also, but they have held up ok so far
Durability - Held up great for the 6 months it was on the car. Minor chip now from bodyshop
that uninstalled the kit
Notes - Kit is very low compared to other kits. It was difficult to drive at the height I was at. I was at 0 finger gap in the rear and .5 finger gap in the front

Car- 2GS (99)
Car Year - 99
Part type - Front bumper and side skirts
Part make - Veilside K1
Part construction - FRP
Source - Veilside
Price - Don't remember
Fitment - One clip on rear of passenger side skirt does not line up. For this reason I had to use sticky tape to hold that one corner in place. Doesn't stick too well though.
Installation - any install tips? Front bumper is a royal pain to remove
Durability - Excellent. Scraped and hit it many times and although needs to get repainted it is in good shape and structurally intact. Very tough.
Notes - When you raise the car on the lift the passenger side skirt ALMOST touches the rear tire. VERY tight. No problem on other side.

Some things to note: Fitment is perfect on front bumper! Switching to 255/40R18's to give me a bit more front clearance.

Car- 2GS
Car Year - 2000
Part type - front lip
Part make - GReddy/Gracer
Part construction - polyurethane
Source - Rod Millen Motorsports
Price - MSRP ~$199, street price ~$165
Fitment - great. holds in place extremely well because there are slabs that fit the lower bumper's gills.
Installation - since it is urethane, it is very flexible. you stretch it alittle to wrap it around the lower part of the bumper, and once it's in place, secure it with one screw on each of the front inner fenders. it holds pretty well, even if both screws are gone it will still remain in place.
Durability - It scrapes fine. It's durable urathane, so you can take some soft direct hits and be fine. But beware of high-speed entering dips. I broke my first GReddy lip that way. It broke into 2 pieces. But it did not fall apart until I remove the lip, since the tension of the urethane holds it.
Notes - VERY LOW quantities, and demand is somewhat high. Long waiting list from GReddy, prepare to wait months if the vendor doesn't have it in stock.

Car- 2GS
Car Year - 2000
Part type - front grille
Part make - AeroTech Japan ~Rando~
Part construction - fiberglass
Source - Hiro
Price - ~ $250 shipped
Fitment - Bad. The lower part of the grill pertrudes outward.
Installation - Straight forward. take out the stock grill by removing all nuts and bolts, and stick the new grill on there.
Durability - Good. The fiberglass is strong enough. Maybe because it's just a grille.
Notes - I think the quality can be better. This is a relatively low price grill, but I would recommend L-Sportline or even the more expensive TTE. You get what you pay for.

Car- 2GS
Car Year - 1999
Part type - LSportline Front and Rear Bumper
Part make - LSportline
Part construction - Poly Eurothene
Source - Carson Toyota
Price - ~ 1500
Fitment - Front is Good, Rear is just OK
Installation - Front all lines up good. For the Rear, there is a small gap between the tail lights and bumper. For the front, the fog lights are hard to mount. You have to do some modding to get the fogs on.
Durability - Good. LSportline makes the poly eurothene nice and thick.
Notes - Overall Good. Looks good, the front bumper clearance is much better that most aftermarket kits. About 3 inches higher in the front than the RMM Bumper. I just wish the rear fitment was better.

I know there are more feedback than this. Even if you have some similar pieces as someone else who has posted, more real world data is always useful.

Car- 2GS
Car Year - 2000
Part type - WIngs West 3 peice rear spoiler
Part make - Wings West
Part construction - Poly Eurothene
Source - Wings West, CA.
Price - ~ 300.00
Fitment - The corner peices fit really good, the deck spolier length is very good, but to align with L emblem can be a hassle, may have to move the rear emblem a tad.
Installation - Was very easy and straight forward, the adhesive tape is durable, but after 11/2 years may need to re apply it. need at least (2) people to install it.
Durability - Good. Prepping wasnt that major of an issue.
Notes - Overall Good. Looks good. This is a very subtle yet dynamic rear spoiler, very sporty yet elegant. Well worth the price.

Car - 2GS
Car Year - 2000
Part type - Rear bumper
Part make - explosion
Part construction - FG (or was it FRP?)
Source - Carson
Fitment - Very nice
Installation - Didnt hear any complaints from body shop
Durability - no problems so far
Notes: i believe this is the rear that looks exactly like the RMM one.. very subtle.

Part type - Side skirts
Part make - win racing
Part construction - FRP
Source - Carson
Fitment - Pretty good fitment, the sides and the rubber at the bottom of the door did not line up so i had to put some rubber washers to push the side skirt out a little.
Installation - Easy
Durability - very durable stuff
Notes: this kit angles down at the front of the skirt.. VERY low skirt.

Part type - Side skirts
Part make - explosion
Part construction - FG
Source - Carson
Fitment - could be better.. parts stick out so not flush against body, could be fixed with some screws and more bondo... didnt want to do that so parts stick out form body here and there. Definitely not OEM fit.
Installation - Didnt hear any complaints from body shop
Durability - not sure.. seems ok so far.
Notes: i believe this is the rear that looks exactly like the RMM one.. very subtle.

Part type - front bumper
Part make - win racing
Part construction - FRP
Source - Carson
Fitment - Very nice.. no noticable gaps..
Installation - Didnt hear any complaints from body shop
Durability - very durable stuff
Notes: very low

Part type - Front bumper
Part make - vertex
Part construction - FG
Source - Carson
Fitment - some small gaps, but not much to complain about
Installation - 7-8/10 compared to OEM bumper
Durability - very durable stuff

Car-2GS (98-05)
Car Year - 99
Part type - bumper, sideskirts
Part make - Veilside
Part construction - FRP
Source - Godspeed Inc.
Price - Don't remember
Fitment - Pieces needed to be prepped but nothing major. The front bumper was a tighth squeeze but fit just fine and I mounted the fog lights on the outside instead of inside like the OEM buper. Rear passenger side tire touches the side skirt if car is on a lift but not a problem when car is moving. Very odd but doesn't affect anything.
Installation - Be very careful not to overtighten the screws.
Durability - Excellent. Cracked front bumper hitting a piece of ice at 45 MPH but held up pretty well and can be fixed easily. Side Skirts still perfect.

Here are the ones that I have had experience with

Car - 2nd gen GS400
Car Year - 1998
Part type - full kit with bumper replacements and rear spoiler
Part make - WIN Racing........original kit
Part construction - fiberglass
Source - bought it used
Price - cant remember
Fitment - Lines right up, no gaps, no major prep work needed
Installation - straight forward, test fitted myself, had the shop prep and paint, installed it myself
Durability - extremely durable, thick quality fiberglass

things to mention- this kit sits extremely low on a lowered car, ecspecially the side skirts, but like mentioned, is extremely durable. The rear spoiler was wavy and required more prep work, still not perfect, but im a perfectionist.

Part make - Veilside Executive kit
Part construction - fiberglass
Source - Veilside
Price - cant remember
Fitment - Lines right up, no gaps, no major prep work needed
Installation - straight forward, test fitted myself, had the shop prep and paint, installed it myself
Durability - extremely durable, thick quality fiberglass

things to mention- the factory fogs do not bolt into this bumper, although they can be made to fit and look perfect, just takes a small bit of effort

Source - Carson Toyota
Price - cant remember
Fitment - Lines right up, no gaps, no major prep work needed
Installation - straight forward, test fitted myself, had the shop prep and paint, installed it myself
Durability - extremely durable, thick quality fiberglass

other items.....

Veilside hood........high quality part, just like their kits......little prep work to paint.......as far as fitment goes, I have seen 4 of them on cars, 3 of the 4 fit good, the 4th was good enough, but slightly off on the seams

DSR roof spoiler.......no complaints, fit good, quality good, easy install with 3m tape

L Sportline grill.........no complaints, good quality and fitment, easy install

Rod Millen grill.........fitment was fine, quality was good with the exception of one of the cross bars sagging....which is a normal issue with these.....not too noticeable on the car, but its there

Veilside grill........good quality and fitment, goes great with Veilside hood.......my one complaint is that it doesnt come with the mesh to go behind it

L Sportline roof spoiler........quality was fine, but the fitment was HORRIBLE......I had about a half inch gap on both sides of the spoiler.....never installed it, got rid of it....would not recommend
