PIAA ultra-white bulbs

I have a question for those in the group who do not have the HID lighting system on their Lexus GS3/4 cars:
Does anybody know if the ultra-white light bulbs sold by PIAA offer a true HID-type light or is this just marketing hype? PIAA sells a Platinum 9000 series bulb that supposedly casts a true ultra-white beam (like HID) that is far brighter than any non-HID stock headlight. PIAA also claims they burn cooler than other high wattage bulbs. These bulbs are a drop-in for the OEM bulbs and are made for the GS300 and 400. They cost around $60 per pair and are DOT and SAE approved so they are street legal in all 50 states.
PIAA has a good reputation for selling some of the best automotive lighting around so I would be inclined to trust their claims. I just wonder if anybody has tried to use these bulbs on their car and, if so, how they liked them. If these bulbs do produce a light that is nearly as good as HID, then they would be a good alternative for those who want HID lighting on their cars and don't want to deal with the expense or installation headache of true HID lighting systems.
Thx...Doug

Doug,
i was looking for something like this for my bros gs3. after research and feedbacks, i found the PIAA 9006 Super plasma to be the closeest. PIAA also claims that with the plasma coating, they last longer than other bulbs and the closest to HIDs. they are also SAE and Dot approved. in their 9000 series, this is the right # for low beam. are you referring to this model?
i found them for $100. could you tell me the exacct model you found for $60?
thanks
william

PIAA pricing

The following link will take you to the web site that had the PIAA 9006 and 9005 bulbs for $59 per pair (free shipping). I just searched for "PIAA" and found these guys. Even though this is a 4x4 site, these bulbs should be the same ones that the Lexus uses.

I will probably purchase a pair of low beams for my GS to see how they work.
Thx...Doug
