Thumbs up

Just ordered a 2002 SC 430 (Should get it in time for winter.. LOL.. Hardly any allocation to Canada of these cars) to replace my 2000 GS 400.. Anyways I was wondering if any of you have Lowenhart wheels on your GS.. Specifically LD1 in chrome.. If so any issues with the wheels or the chrome quality??

I'm looking at getting the 18" LD1's to replace those ugly looking wheels that the factory has on this vehicle.. I'd love to get the 19" wheels but i'm sure the ride would be way too harsh..

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me!

Yes, my boy had LD 1's on his blue GS. I'm not sure if u were at the OLD clublexus when I posted that his rim cracked on the highway. I would say LD'1s are very good rims. In terms on chrome condition, my Kaz'Mir looks as shiny as the LD'1s except the lowenhart is 3 piece rim.

I had the BR5's but sold them. N E ways, my boy is ordering another set of LD1's (he wants 21's man) he is sick in the head IMHO

LD1's quality and chrome is top notch, being that they are high-end japanese wheeels, i have yet hear any problems. but one thing about chrome wheels is that no matter how good the chrome process is, the shine will dull over the years.

that is the reason why "POLISHED, aka DIAMOND CUT-finish in japan)" are very popular as well. you get the attention grabbing look, but still retain the finish over time.

18 or 19- depends on the road condition, your wallet, and how important the "look" factor is to you. being that the car itself is not that big, i would take 18s. imo, for a smallcar(do not necessarily mean the sc430) to wear big wheels some times actually "jack" up the car and have that "floating" look. just my humble $0.02.

2sav,

forgot one thing, CONGRATS on the SC430-one of my top 10 list and a potential candidate in the garage space.

Cool

gs4will,

Thanks for the congrats.. Too bad I have to wait so long but Silver SC's are a premium up here thus the reason for the factory order.. I heard some idiot up here paid well over 100 G's for a silver SC.. Go figure!

Anyways 18" would be the way to go and I agree that too big a wheel takes away from the car.. As for polished or diamond cut there is alot of upkeep to these types of wheels from my experience.. Just some wheel makers do a better chrome plating job than others thus the reason for this thread..

DIESELMAN63,

Hey man thanks for the heads up on the LD1 I didn't realize it was a 3 piece wheel.. I'm still leaning that way but I have a few months to decide.. And yeah 21's on a GS is a bit sick but like they say to each his own!

$100k for a silver sc430:eek: - that 's why the word "IDIOT" exist. but hey, no offense, i need people like that so that I can pay cheaper prices on my rides. it is called ZEN-a world in balance. for me, i will take the $100k, get a gs3 for now and tell the manager to get me a sc430 in 6 months. i will have a lux cruiser and an attention getter.

ap0718,

Sweet looking ride.. Any problems with the wheels or the chrome and how long have you owned the rims??
Wish I lived in the Southern US to have put 20" on my GS..

Honestly, the rims haven't given me any problems at all. Knockin on wood!!!! Yeah, I heard the roads up north are pretty bad, but I guess I am fortunate, cause the roads in Florida are not that bad at all. Thanks for the comments though

i actually think the stock rims look real nice on the sc430 and matches it quiet well.. but the LD1s are a million times nicer -=) if i ever get rims on my gs itll be those..

good decision and congrats on the car..its a nice ride
