My 99 GS400 running lights are really faint (you can barely tell they're on) during the day AND at night. Are there any bulb upgrades to increase the intensity of these lights?
Also, I leave my lights in the "auto" mode all the time where they turn on and off based on the built in light sensor. I have noticed that lots of time when it's overcast and/or rainy that other cars have their headlights on but mine are not on. Is there any way to adjust the "auto" mode so they come on more often?
Thanks,
Bobcat

hm..... most people like the DRL to be GONE!!! If you want it brighter just change your high beam bulbs to something like Piaa or Raybrig. that should do the trick.
Sometimes the auto mode doesn't work as good. When other cars' lights are on but yours are off, just use your hand and cover the sensor on the dash. That'll turn it on! (But don't let go....... haha j/k )

In the CBEST system, you can go to the dealer and tell them to change the sensitivity of the light sensors. Then you can have them turn on when it's overcast or whatever your liking is.

Why not tape over something to partially block the sensor?

Most people like the DRL to be gone?? I don't get it? I like the way they look when they're on. And how would changing the high beam have any effect on the DRL's??
Man I feel stupid here.
Others:
Maybe blocking the sensor with some tape or something would work. I don't know.
Thanks for your advice, all.

The reason that the High beam bulb will affect the DRL is because they are one and the same. The High beam bulb runs at half the wattage to give you that yellow look. So in essence, it wouldn't be wise to disable the DRL because then you wouldn't have your high beams. I already tried changing out the stock high beams for PIAA superwhites and although the high beam may be a little brighter, when the drls are on, they is hardly any difference. Save the $80 or so. At the Carson meet, I also saw someone who had either colored their high beam bulbs blue or had blue 9006 bulbs. That would do the trick if you want to have a whiter light coming from the dull DRLs. But in my opinion, it looks a little funny when the all the lights are off because you see these blue bulbs in the housing. Hope that helped anyone who was interested.
