I think it looks much better....but that's just IMO. Maybe "better" isn't the correct choice of word, but, I think it looks much sportier.
To me, gold has a more luxurious look to it while silver/chrome has a sportier look to it.

I used blue painters tape and outlined the old emblems for a reference point before removing them although the residue left from old badges helped too, but the tape helped even more. 12lb test fishing line sawed through the glue no problem. Then I used my finger to rub off most of the old glue.

Agree with everyone that chrome looks far better than gold. Do you have a pic of the front with the chrome 'L' on the grille?
