Yeah, the receiver is in the passenger C-pillar...

All you wimps...

I extended the antenna on the receiver. Now max distance I am getting ~80ft without the chin and ~140ft with the chin. Definitely I can activate the doors further away now, YMMV. Haven't replaced the batteries yet. Might be able to go a little further.

Basically, what I did was connect the antenna to the ground. Making the entire frame the antenna. I will post a write up once I sit down to write with the pics.

My observations: Seems the receiver is the weak link since IS & GS use the same keys and the IS gets better range. Possible fix(?) switch the GS receiver with the IS receiver. Though prolly a pricey fix. The receiver is listed @ $533 for the GS. Would also be good if we can boost the signal of the key.

for that money i would rather just mod it to have my car become the antenna

The LS can unlock from at least 300 feet if you point the remote up. I stopped trying everywhere I go because the people Im with started thinking it was weird

I replace battery and still nothing, 98 GS. would a new key from ebay be of any worth? do they transmitters in keys go bad? I am one foot away sometimes, and nada.

and if I have to spend money, might as well go for a remote starter?
