I think my remote is good for at least 50 ft. I haven't really tested it any further. Personally, I wouldn't want my remote to have too long of a range, because I might accidently unlock it if I'm fumbling through my pocket or just have it pressed somehow. Besides I think I would have a tough time seeing my car from 50 yards away anyways.

I asked Steve @ LMW about the range issue and this was his response:

The remote range is a strange deal. Some cars are just better than others. Do you have window tint? Window tint will affect some cars. We are working on a device to possibly crank up the range of your existing remote. Hard to tell when it will be available.
Things to try for better range.
1. Do not hold the metal part of the key when using the remote.
a. only touch the plastic part
2. Put the end of the key to your chin
b. the metal part of the end of the key
3. Check your battery voltage
Thanks again,
Steve

I'm not sure how far along they are with the range booster.

I think my key battery is just about dead....Lately, like within this week my range just started to suck *****....I would be literally 1 foot away from the car, and hitting the lock button, and it wouldn't flash its lights like it normally does or lock the car. Sometimes, i could be about 10 feet away, and it will, but i'm gradually needed to be closer and closer to the car day after day...its rediculous....
On the plus side, I just bought a new battery for it, and broke the little screw driver's tip trying to screw out the lexus key ...So gotta find another one to open it...Till than, i mind as well be using keyed entry...

Key Range!
I do not know whats up with you guys range. Since day one I have at least 40 feet of range! I notice if I am on a level higher than ground level I can lock unlock from farther away!?! I knew this becuase my boy has a CLK and has to almost lay the key on the hood of his car to unlock. It is better if he just walks up to the car in my opinion! LOL...

remote
I've got window tint and my remote works from 75 feet and probably further. It works thru glass at that distance too. I don't stand on one leg or balance the key on my nose, not sure why it works but I'm glad it does.
The reason I sometimes do it thru glass is when I've gone into work and wondered if I locked the car. If I hit the lock button twice I see the lights flash.

It prolly doesn't matter, but what year is everyone's car? mine is a 2k and my range
has always been about 40-50 yards. The one time it failed me (range was down to
about 20 feet) the car battery - not the key battery - died a couple of days later.
range returned with the new car battery.
-darbs.

BTW, range is not uniform in all directions, diagram in manual shows that there are some angles which have better reception and some which are worse. Varies from side to side and front to back. Also, not to worry about accidently unlocking the car: if you unlock with keyless entry but do not open the door within about 30 secs, the car relocks itself as a safety feature.
