Default hood latch cable

My hood latch cable is sticking and it makes closing the hood very diffecult. Usually, I have to remove the latch assembly and tug at the spring to free the cable.

I called the local Lexus dealer and they want $30 for the cable and about $275 for installation.

Has anyone tried to replace the cable? How long did it take? Was it diffecult? (I know, diffecult is relative) Let's say, harder than changing break pads and rotors????

Default Too much

I had mine done also, same problem. From memory, they charged me about $175 for the install, not $275..I would go to another dealer.

The problem is the cable routing. If you take it to a non-Lexus shop, it could be risky, or they could kink the cable or something.

Good luck

dude i had the same exact problem ......... i was told that unless the cable is broken, you should not need a replacement ..... i highly recommend you trying wd40 on the hoodlatch spring because its the spring thats not pulling the cable ..... and that should fix the problem for you and saves you lots of money ..... hope this helps ...
