Need Help: Driver door will not lock / unlock
Hey Guys,
I know I should just fix this on my own but I want to see if anyone else has had this problem. So among many things that have been happening to me and my car this month, Yesterday my driver side door has decided to stop locking and unlocking.
Problems:
When I lock the door using the key remote...the alarm will not sound and none of the doors will lock.
When I am inside the car and move the shifter from park to drive...all the doors lock except the driver door.
When I unlock the car using the key remote all the doors will unlock and I will also get the double beep letting me know the alarm is disengaged.
What I can still do:
If i stick the key in the driver door and lock the door...all of the doors will lock including the driver door (of course it will lock if i do it manually/mechanically)
Conclusion / Solution?:
Is my door lock acuator failing? if it is... How easy is it to replace/repair? (i am no longer under warranty)
anyways....HELP!!!

I had the same problem on my front 2 doors. You have to manually lock the doors from the inside or with the key and the key hole. Price around $450 from your local stealer. I had to get both my fronts done now one of my rears are acting up. The part itself is around $229.00. Im going back to the stealer and complaning to have both my rear doors changed for free. Its a common problem on the GS. You will have atleast 1 go out by the time you hit 80,000 miles. I only have 45,000 miles and already 3 are bad.

I had problem with my driver door also. But it my case it was my fault. I was putting some sound deadening stuff on my door and when I took my door panel off, I accidently pulled the panel too hard and the locking mechanism got broken. I don't know how to discribe it but its like long wire with a steel ball at the end which attaches to the door latch. And the way it is attached is surrounded by plastic and locking and unlocking is done by the steel wire going back and forth. Sorry if this doesn't make sense but take a look by removing the door panel and see for yourself and you probably know what I mean.
The plastic is very weak and it can be broken easily. I had mine replaced by dealer on my older GS and it cost me around $500 to fix it. This time what I did was to buy steel putty. The stuff that I got from autozone that is putty but when mixed with hand in few mins it turns into very hard stuff. I used that to fix the plastic and it works fine now. Its probably stronger now since that stuff is stronger. I hope this helps. Good Luck.
