Talking 98 gs3? Please help

I am looking into upgrading from my 97 es into a 98-01 gs. I went to see a 98 black gs w/53k miles. Seller is asking 15,800 but I told him i would get back to him, we left it @ 15,400. He is the second owner and purchased the car in 01 w/ 15k miles.

The car is in good condition. It has a few scatches but i expected that being its 6 years old. Tires are new and reason for th elow miles is due to working in NY so the car was only drivin on the weekends.

My question to the GS owners is this a fair price and are there any common issues with this car? I know with my ES I had a rear seal problem and it seemed to be a common issue with the 96-00 es models.

Thanks in advance

njes300,

People are at work on the east coast and the west coast it's first thing in the AM. Only 8 people have looked at this thread when you bumped it besides you and me, have a bit of patience . The search tool works great on the GS forum too! Try it as the questions you ask have been covered MANY times before and you can get your answer right away

For price, I'd recommend the following to gauge value of the GS for your area.

KBB
Edmund's

Take a look at these places for similar cars to compare the going $$
Autotrader
E-Bay Motors

The earlier years (98/99) have more quirks then the later years, but some of the most common complaints are:

Moisture in Healights
Low/rough Idle Issue
Door Actuator Problems
Dash Rattle
Sunroof Rattle
Vibration at Highway Speed

All pretty minor annoyances IMO.

Some sample threads about these issues:

NJES, what model GS is this 300 or 400?

Either way its a good deal, but if it's a 400, you got a steal right there!
