Default Loose lower cladding

Hey guys. I performed a search, looked through numerous threads and couldn't find the answer. Does anyone know how the lower plastic cladding is attached to the doors? The cladding on my driver's side door is loose and I'm wondering how to secure it. Does the plastic attach directly to the metal? Is the metal underneath finished/painted? If this is the case, It seems that moisture would get trapped in there all the time. Thanks for any help.

Are you talking about the lower strip on the bottom of the door itself (colored to match color of car)?

If so...its screwed into the bottom of the door under the lower half of the door. You have to remove the entire door molding to get access to the screws.

And exactly what do you mean its loose....that part is actually prone to damage and it rips for most lexus owners...

Post a pic...i may be able to help you more appropriately.

Thanks GS4fun. I'm talking about the entire lower half of the door, not just the strip on the very bottom. When I say loose, I mean that it appears to be secured at both ends, but bubbles out in the middle and isn't flush. I can push it in with my hand, but it just reverts back to its old position when I let go. I checked the passenger side door and that panel is secured all the way across. The driver's side door seems to have detached in the middle. Does that make sense?

That panel i believe has screws in both ends..but clips in the middle. I think you may have a broken clip. You may to completely remove to inspect closely. You have to remove the inner panel as well i believe to get access to the screws holding that panel in place.

Good luck.

Do yOu mean I have to remove the inside door panel? Also, what's underneath that outer plastic panel? Is it finished or unfinished? I assume the panel has been loose for quite some time, so I would think moisture would get in there, wouldn't it?

Yes I think you have to remove the inside door panel to get access to the screws.

There is paint on the metal thats underneath the outer plastic panel. I dont think moisture would get into your door from the bulge though...i wouldn't worry however...you always have some moisture in there....when it rains...the rains seeps in through the window sill somewhat as well.
