Default Worth? Need your inputs.

I'm really getting sick of my townhouse and have been wanting to move into a single family house.
In order to do that, I might have to sell my car. So, I'm trying to figure out some $$$$ issues.

What do you think I can get for my car?

1998 Lexus GS400, Pearl White, 145k miles, timing belt has been changed, as well as the water pump.
All fluids have been either flushed or changed. The car has factory HIDs. Everything works. Not a single problem with the car.

Here's a list of mods that would probably go with the car -

Good luck on the house. Your best bet is to part it out and sell it stock. You may search to find a buyer that will pay for all of those mods, but I could think of 100 or so people that would jump all over some of the mods that you have!!

I saw bone stock/sell parts!

I'm with DGOT20s on parting out the mods. You'll probably make more on it than selling it with the car. There's only a small percentage of Lexus owners that do mods, almost everyone else just want's it stock.

Say it ain't so bro.

I suggest seeing a financial analysis first to see if you can attain a SFH without selling the GS/mods. Try your bank or FCU....some have ppl there that do this stuff for you for FREE.

Good luck.

Btw...how much is a SFH going for in IL? Avg or median price for a 3 bedroom 2 bath house? Just curious.

Pete

There is a guy selling a GS in the classifieds with similar (or identical) mileage and he is asking about 15k or so. It has been in the classifieds for quite some time though, I dunno why

It's sad to see a lovingly modded gs be dismantled, but I agree that parting it out is the best way to maximize your return. For example, I (and i'm sure many others) would be interested in your flex's, your grille, the intake, etc., etc.

Really sweet ride though. Btw, what rims are those? Look familiar, but can't place 'em.

ya a cinnabun gs has been 4 sale with that or close 2 same miles 4 long time now, remiited on ebay a couple times too, i really think should part out the car, u'll make so much more money that way, if i were in u'r shoes i would want like close 2 30k with everything but chances of u getting close 2 that r slim....but if u sell the car 4 like say 17k or just under u might get 5 to 8k 4 just that stuff when u add it up. i'm sorry if it sounds like i'm downgradeing or lowballing but i'm just thinking realisticaly....good luck...oh by the way i really wish u'd chage u'r mind cus thats a great looking car, all that work. it would b sad 2 c u strip her down... but like friend once told me "u build them up 2 eventually sell them 4 half of what u paid ,if that"

My CU Black Book gave the following numbers for a stock 98 GS4 with 145K miles:
average condition: retail $14,900
average condition: trade-in $12,620
No prices listed for clean and extra-clean. You can try Edmunds.com

I hate to see that nice car parting. That is sad. Why don't you wait (and don't forget to save) for a couple of years before finding your dream home? Are you having kids? Stop modding is one way to save . Lets try to put aside the extra amount of money that you think you should pay on your dream single family home, or even put that money into your monthly mortgage.

Like everyone else here as hinted, part it out so that you don't lose all that money you invested.

Or better yet sell it as is to an existing CL member who is looking for a modded GS - 1SICKLEX comes to mind.

I've got so many parts sitting for this car...

yeah, the mod bug needs to stop, but there's so much to do.

i guess i'll wait out this year.

i have quite a bit of cash invested into the market.
hopefully it'll pan out to be enough for a down payment.
go market!

to part out this car would be hell.
i've either tossed or gotten rid of most of the stock parts.
probably wouldn't of happened if my garage was bigger

i guess until someone comes by and offers around 23k plus for the
car... it will still be mine.

thanks all

if the market plays out as i hope,
in addition to a new house...
there will be a 2JZ-GTE in this car
with a single turbo...
and a new body kit... preferably WISE sports.
