Default Harmonic Balancer question

My 1993 GS300's harmonic balancer fell apart. I am going to do the work myself but I wanted to see if anybody has any experience with ordering a replacement one from any of the low price sites out there? I found one at AM autoparts for $39.45. Local dealer wants $500.

Thanks for the input.

Well I've found my issue as it seems the harmonic balancer keyway got wallered out and the key was hammering on the pulley. Thus causing an unbalance and throwing off my flexplate and possibly cracking it and ruined my rear main seal...

Whoa man thats terrible!!! I guess the only fix for that will be a new crankshaft....that sucks. Do you know what started the problem? I have seen people have problems with the crank pulley separating but I have never seen anything this bad.

I'm going to assume the previous owner or mechanic who put the aftermarket pulley on it didn't torque it to spec and let it wobble around thus causing my this headache.

Looking at this thread made take a look at my crank pulley today and while it is torqued down nice and tight there a relatively large crack on the front of it. I think it may be time to swap it out before something bad happens. I may do the Driftmotion lightweight pulley set...
