Can anyone please help me identify the primary color of my 94' Gs300?
Hey all,
I recently purchased a very clean 94 gs300 from my neighbor for 2k. The car is in excellent shape, minus the driver's side fender, as pictured. The guy's wife took the car out one day and hit a concrete post, knocking in the fender and chipping some paint off.
I was able to get inside the wheel well and bang out most of the dent, but there's still a rust spot as shown. My question is this:
What the hell is the actually (and correct) paint code for the WHITE metallic part of the car?
I've been having too much trouble with such a basic issue. Online it states the "white pearl" is 046, as it says on the door. I just ordered paint code 046 from toyota and it's the silver metallic part of the two tone instead.
Does anyone know the correct paint code for the white part of the car? It's definitely not 046.
Thanks

Thanks! And yea, for some reason this is much harder than it seems. When I search with the vin, no colors come up. When I call the dealership and give them the VIN, only one color pops up, being 046 - Opal White Pearl, the same color I got from Toyota.
046 may be called opal white pearl, but I'm 100% positive it's silver and is the silver part of the two tone car. Either way, only one color pops up when Lexus searches the VIN. It just doesnt make sense.
Guess I'll be using ****ty / mismatching Advance Auto Parts paint now.

The only other white they had was Diamond White Pearl (051) but they didn't start using that white till 95-97 model years. So you ordered the one that matched your VIN and door sill plate and its really closer to the silver on the lower body moldings? Did you try applying some to something to see if it dries silver? Also the pearls will not look the correct color even when dry until you apply the clear coat on top of them (at least on some of the newer pearl colors I've messed with)

Even if you order that paint, it won't match your car exactly after 22 years. The color changes with time, exposure to the sun, tree sap, oxygen, acid rain etc. It's going to be strikingly obvious that you've repainted the fender, even from a distance. If you take it to a bodyshop, you can have them try to match it by mixing up a custom color and they can get it as close as possible. Even if the color is still a perfect match, it's going to look different because the process used to apply the paint in a factory is nearly impossible to replicate. It won't be that obvious though. Lots of cars get repainted or touched up.

I believe that's the case...the 046 is definitely opal white pearl. When painted in very small sections, like rock chips, it definitely appears silver. So I decided to hit a larger scrape underneath the bumper, and when applied in larger amounts w more coats, it definitely looked more white against the silver. So, I said F it, and hit the fender. It's definitely not a perfect match...but looks better than the huge rusty dent that was there.
I stuffed a softball in the wheel well and got it behind the dent, then put the butt of a baseball bat against it and hammered it in lol. Here are the results:
