Well, I think it is solved. This morning it wouldn't start. Opened the hood, and it would. So I put a piece of foam that I lined with electrical tape on top of the coil/coil wire connection and closed the hood. it started. opened the hood and removed it. Wouldn't start again. Coil has no cracks, and coil wire is new. I guess the hood blanket is sagging and when it is wet with condensation etc.. it provides a ground and the damn coil arcs to it. Well, I put the cover I made on it and taped it over it. Ill leave it all week. if it has no issues, I will find a different style boot for the coil wire connection to the coil and see if that solves it.

Every day so far this week it has started up fine without having to open the hood. Im going to search for a different boot setup for the coil wire to make a nicer looking fix to the problem.

Well, this issue is officially solved. Even though there were no cracks in the coil, it came back with a vengeance recently, and I couldn't even put the car in drive or reverse until it warmed up or it would die, and I would have to open the hood again for it to start. I touched the coil right after starting it one day last week and got zapped. Bought a new coil, installed it, and no more issue, even without the cover over the coil. So folks, if your having weird issues where the engine spins, but wont start if it is cold/super damp out, but once the temp rises, or its drier out it does, try installing a NEW coil. I tried a used spare I had and same issue. Brand new Delphi coil solved it. Only like $16 shipped on Ebay.
