Default Why was i not aware of this?

Toyota Aristo 4.0Z i-Four (chassis code UZS143) was a toyota aristo offered with AWD and the 1uz-fe from the LS/SC. made from 92-97, but never offered as a lexus. granted i'd rather the 2jz for a fun project sleeper, but the 1uz would be such a great daily!

I have read about it a few times. I think if you search on here there was someone who started to do the swap but there was never a finished product. I have considered doing a V8 swap without the 4wd. I would love the 4.3 V8!!

A front clip is about 2K with the rear shafts and differential minus the body panels. I really want to do this but seems like the best way to go about it is to get a GS400 with the VVTi motor. Not a straight drop in but for what you would pay the VVTi 1UZ is a beast compared to the JDM 1UZ offered in j-Land.

I am not interested in the 4wd system either as I have read in aussie forums it is a pain to work on - more reason to try and get the GS400 motorset.

Just my 2 cents.

before I bought my gs300 6-7 years ago, there was a shop in hawthorne,ca called G-speed Corp. For $7,000 they were selling an original RHD pearl white aristo w/ 2jzgte, a front and rear clip of another aristo Zi-four AWD with the v8 engine, and another parted out 2jzgte engine. I was so close to buying all of this, but I was afraid of the process to getting it street legal in California. So or $50 he let me pull some unique parts off of the Zi-Four gs300/aristo, like the rear air purifier assembly for the rear subwoofer deck. I sill have it , I have just been too busy lately to write a tutorial on how to hook it up...the thing runs when hooked up to a battery.

There were 2 loopholes to do this, buy you need to either be patient with option 1 and keep trying at various DMV's, oroption 2 - know/have family with a las vegas or out of state address(close to calif.) and use that as your place of residence and register the car there....wait a few months(6-8 months) then move your residence to California, and inform them that the car is under federal smog requirements and that there was no issue for your daily driven car in the other state you just came from. California will then allow registration of your car in California, but when the time comes for smog, it will be done using federal NO, HC, and CO emission limits.

I hope that makes sense...

They started making them in 1992 so in 2 more years when 2017 rolls around you'll be able to import one legally.
