Whats it doing when it shuts off? Does it just have a low idle and ends up dying?

Can you instantly restart the car and have the same problems persist?

yes. when it shuts of it would start right back up an shut off again after about 7 to ten mins. sometimes it would only start on the third try. this car was sitting for about 2 years before i bought it. We got a code 14. so we change spark plugs, and everything else except the ignitor. but after reading a post in the LS forum i am starting to wonder if its the ecu, what do you think

That sounds entirely plausible. I think leaking capacitors cause a lot of problems that people have with these old cars. I know driftmotion does a service to repair these, maybe you could talk with him about pricing or what to look for in yours (opening it up and seeing any visual clues before sending it in).

Having it run for 7-10 min and be able to restart is confusing, and i would swap out the ecu before i changed the ignitor but that couldn't hurt if your problem persists.

Welcome! I am not the most versed in these cars but the huge community has dwindled. Definitely keep searching these forums (alongside the SC300 forums here) to see if anyone else has similar issues with capacitors. Supraforums is another good source that I use to search on alongside clubaristo.

Pretty much you can go to google and type in:

capacitor issues site:www.clublexus.com

You can change the directory site that google will search through but this is MUCH easier than using the forum tools to search (although sometimes I do that too, for results from a specific sub section). Good luck! Hopefully this place isn't dead enough to gather some responses to help you out.

I would send it to Aaron @ driftmotion after contacting him and have him fix it up, or find a known good condition ECU!

Awesome. Finding the problem is half the solution.
