Loves Snickerdoodles!
Ah yes..
I have seen one of these on the road here in San Diego. An older couple was driving it so I asssume that it's factory paint. It really is a nice color if you get the chance to see it in real life.

That is a nice color! Has the value of our cars (1st gen) took a tank or what!!! I was gonna sell mine, now I think I might just keep it for couple more years. I think 2 things killed our value:
1. a 1993 and 1997 model look 99 percent alike!! The only difference being the taillights. And we have all seen 93 models going for 8-9,000 dollars! So most folks just lump them all together and think they cost 10 thou
2. The 98+ GS was such a success, that they are now coming off lease, and the dealers have to get rid of them. You know things are bad when the NEWER version of your car is sitting on dealer lots! The Lexus dealer in Springfield, MA must have about 20+ 98-00 GS's on its lot!!
BTW-i still like my car, I like it alot (ala Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber!)

DGOT20s:
I agree with what you said. But the first gen. is a rare car. How many 2 gen. do you see on the road? A lot. And how often do you run into a 1 gen. GS? Not too often, it happens maybe once every two / three weeks for me. So I think the rarety of the car should give it some value. Just thinking...

Yeah i have seen that color before.. but only once i think.
The reason why you don't see many 1st Gen on the road is the fact that they were nearly 50K when introduced. With every option (TracControl Heated Seats, Nakamichi, Chrome Wheels) 53K. And then Lexus didnt have the brand recognition it has now. Also, many cant afford to buy a car until it reaches the teens or twenties. therefore the depreciation wait begins. The day i bought mine the new GS 400 98' were coming off the truck and the dealer was getting $5000 over List Price for each one.
The saddest thing is when lexus introduced the new body style the priced the GS 400 where the 1st Gen GS was priced and made the newer GS 300 $10,000 less. People/Late Shoppers see our car and think it is the cheaper version not knowing it was the "top of the line" for its time. and more like the equivalent of the current GS4 not GS3.

You know what? I forgot the car was that expensive when introduced. I live in Mass now, but I am from Metro New York, and trust me, I see more 93-95s than you can shake a stick at!! The only thing is, they are usually crap buckets, (salvaged, dull paint, mismatched panels, etc). Because there are so many cars like that in my area, many people see my car, and think its a 93 with a million miles on it, and thats why i have nice wheels, because I only paid 10 dollars for the car!! I dont care though, I love my car, I cannot think of many other cars designed in 1992, that still look good in 2003! (SC, Acura Legend, and 3 series BMW, are a few!!)

DGOT20s and 007:
You guys are both absolutely correct. And that is why I love ClubLexus, because of nuts like ourselves. No matter the costs, no matter other people's opinions, we just keep on showing love for the first Generation. It's the best freakin' car in the world.
And yes, people, who don't know sometimes ask me, "what year is it? 99-2000?" Like DGOT20s said, "I cannot think of many other cars designed in 1992, that still look good in 2003!" I love my car too, just like everyone else on here.
I haven't been posting much lately, been very busy. So I'm very glad to see that the spirit still lives on. Lexus for life, baby.
