Hey all, name is Rhys (from OR, USA) and I just picked up a 1995 GS300 the other day. Got it for a great price ($2,000) and found out it needs almost no work! Power steering pump is leaking and upper control arm/ball joint on passenger side needs replacing and that's it.
Has 197,200 miles on it as well - but since I work at a Toyota Dealership I will be doing ALL the fluids as well as a timing belt/water pump job and I already did plugs, wires, air filter, throttle clean and injector clean. Engine is strong and trans is smooth.

The only thing I am disappointed with is the condition of the interior. The leather is really cracking up and the carpeting isn't the greatest. I am going to be on the hunt for some carpet floor mats (if anyone has a lead, please help!) and some new seats as well. Junk yard hunting for sure. Or I might have a company we work with just re-wrap them all. But that is WAY down the line,. Right now I just need to get my rear driver door electronics working and figure out why the needle for my speedometer isn't lighting up (makes it impossible to see how fast I'm going, which for me is not good!)

For now, I just want to get her up to date on the jobs that need to be done so that I know they are done, and then the modding will start. Paint the outside white, get some nice bronze rims to go with the Tanabe drop springs and a nice intake/exhaust set up. Not planning to go all out on her, but get her looking real nice and just cruise. My real pride and joy is my Honda Ruckus, which will always get all the attention and love and money, but the GS will soon be in competition!

On to the pics (sorry, none of the interior yet which is gray BTW):

Default Got a 1994 GS

I picked up a used 1994 GS that has 166k miles and needs a motor. It's super clean and the interior is in real good shape compared to a lot of other first gen GS's that I've worked on. I'm a Lexus Master Tech so I bought this as a daily for my wife. She's almost done. I started a thread about my work on it called "Picked up a super clean GS" and I'll update it there.
Here's some pics:

Very clean for the year and mileage.

The interior is really clean!

Back seat looks like no one has ever set in it!

I am quite close actually! I am just down in Wilsonville and work at the Toyota dealer there.

I am loving this car so far. It needs a few things before I will feel totally safe driving it, but so far it has been awesome. Can't wait to get it looking great, too bad I'm always so broke because of how freakin expensive it is out here hahaha

I put some coilovers on, put Nagisa-Auto rear lower control arms on, had tires mounted to wheels (19X9 +25 (245/40), 19X10 +30(265/40)), and mounted the wheels to the car.

Needs a fender roll and some adjustable toe and traction rods to get the rears into the body. Even at 4 degrees of camber, it still rubs.

I recently caught a real good deal on this 1stGen Lexus Gs300 from a childhood friend of mine. I think all in all i gave him like 750 bucks for it. Im a long time Toyota Fan (its in my blood) my Dad always kept a Toyota around whether it was just a corola or camery for a daily or weather we pushing the tow compacity of a poor lil 4runner to the MAX with boats jetskies 4wheelers and other off road toy's. No matter what Toyota's always take a pretty good beating and keep moving. With that said. I was always a fan of Toyota and wanted to one day own a supra or awd celica so when the opportunity to own a Lexus with a 2JZ under the hood came up.. I had to have it! My buddy bought it from another childhood friend of ours who let it sit for 3 yrs due to some bad suspension parts in the front end, some bald tires and badly needing a tune up. Neither of the previous owners are the type to turn wrenches and get their hands dirty but myself on the other hand..quite the opposite. So i have purchased the full tune up for the car and im ready to get dirty. Mounting new tires this week and im going to investigate the front end issues myself. I have already removed carpet panels in the trunk and removed the sending unit from the factory fuel cell to make it easy to pump out the bad gas . Slowly but surly I Am getting the ball rolling on this project. But hey.. After sitting almost 4 yrs she started Right up on the second stoke of the key with no assistance other than a jump pack for my dead batterie.. Bad gas in all. So. My hopes are high and my plans are BIG 4 this project. I will do my best 2 keep up in the forums and try to help out where i can. Just by reading thru a few thread's I have already learned So Much.

Default 93 gs300

hello 1gs, just got a gold on tan 93 gs300 to add to the fleet. currently have 2 2ES's, 1 3ES, and 2 UCF10's as well. when i first got my ES a little over a year ago, i was hoping i was getting a GS as montana titles dont differentiate what car they are, they just say LEXS 300/400/250 etc. Car overheats under load, thinking about doing a head gasket and a little bit of overdue maintenance. body is nearly mint with only a few minor dents, interior is worn but unripped, hopefully swapping in seats from my 3ES when it gets parted out. unsure of what options it has, some dumdum installed an aftermarket stereo thats getting tossed as soon as i can get another good GS Nak unit. if anybody has a thread with a bunch of stock GS info it would me much appreciated. currently looking for drivers side window trim, both sides and a drivers side taillight. maybe a good set of trunk badges too. will update as the car is fixed.

Awesome welcome to the 1GS family!!! Sounds like you have a solid foundation to build on. The exterior window trim is a common problem on the 1GS. Best bet will be to check out your local junk yard since they are $300+ at thw dealer. Check out the D.I.Y for tons of info!! Also start a build thread so we can follow along with the fixes and mods.

Default New to the Lexus Family!

Hello Everyone!
First off, my name is Joshua, and I'm a recovering Car addict...
Just kidding, still addicted.
Anyways, I recently came across a car off CL that I felt was too good of a deal to pass up, so I bought a 1994 Lexus GS300!
The GS300 was in pretty rough shape, but has been an amazing car so far! In the past two weeks since I've bought it, Ive put about 1200 miles on this bad boy.
Previous owners had some mods, including a Turbo Kit, Stainless steel headers (Still on the car!), 18in rims, and a sub.
The car has ~150k miles, no heater, but whatever. I originally was planning on building this, and making it my daily, but recently ran into a BMW and couldnt pass it up. So regretfully, after only a couple of weeks I'm either going to sell this car whole, or part it out.
But the good news is i'm not going to leave the interior as ****ty as the last owners... Nope!
Have any questions lmk, Btw, I am a HUGE BMW fan, so I dont know too much about lexus, take it easy on me boys
I'm redoing the seats, in hope that at least part of this car will live on. (Look below for a quick rendering I did, black leather, with a red quilted leather middle, *Have not yet started*)
Pics before, This is a midwest car so there is some surface rust, but nothing you couldnt handle. If anyone needs parts, hmu, but I'm glad I was able to share this hell of a car with you guys!
BTW, I get one hell of a shipping discount through Fedex, let me know if you want quotes, I'm currently living in SD.
