Default Transmission Cooler Setup?

I just figured out that my radiator had an internal leak so transmission fluid and coolant mized that is probably what killed the transmission. I have ordered a new radiator and just finished installing the new transmission but I want to make sure this never happens again so I want to run a separate transmission cooler. I have seen a few 2G GS setups but nothing really completed like a write up or step by step instructions. Just wondering what you guys are running for transmission coolers. Pics and part numbers would be great too!! Thanks in advance!!

Any ol trans cooler will work. There are 2 hoses that run under the motor to the bottom of the trans. Just get a cooler and mount it too your radiator with an in and out. Very easy.

Yep, go the local pull it yourself junkyard and find something off of a van or truck (usually with the tow package), or buy one online for $50. I wouldn't worry about a fan, just let it ride.

Can you post some more pics of different angles? What are the dimensions? Does it get enough air flow in mounting inside of the wheel well?

I found the Hayden 1405 for less money than the 1404 so I ordered one. The 1405 is probably overkill though lol!!

Cool, just remember to try to mount it in front of the radiator and condenser.

Pardon my ignorance, but do you need a turbo setup to have a transmission cooler?

No the stock non turbo has a cooler built into the radiator and you can upgrade that. Any time you can cool down the trans fluid it'll help it last longer. Almost every automatic ever made has a factory cooler of some sort.

I'll get a pic of my setup tonight. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out, even though I broke a A/C line putting it in. It's mounted in front of the condenser opposite the fan. It has probably 3-4 inches of room from the condenser and has direct line of air hitting it from the lower grille area.

It also is back far enough I will be able to mount my FMIC with out it interfering. I forget the part number I'm using, but it's stupid big.

I also wanted to mention for optimum cooling. I have it running through the radiator circuit first, then the big cooler, and back to the trans.
