Help! Speedo and tach needle lighting!
I hope someone can help me with this issue or even maybe have a schematic for the gauge cluster. I just installed a new speedo and tach cluster from Lexus and I still have the needle illumination problem. The speedometer initially lit up on both ends and then flickered and then quit working while the tachometer never lit up at all.... if I pound on the dash a bit the speedometer light will flicker and come on for a min. but that is it. Also the speedometer is way off now. Any help or a service manual would be of great service!!!
Thanks for any assistance!
Oh it's a 94 GS300..... lol

I did not get the whole cluster assembly, the part I got was the speedometer and tachometer with the flat plastic panel. The fuel and temp gauges and the rest of the cluster assembly is original. I am not sure where the power for the dial led's comes from in the cluster itself but I believe the problem is somewhere in the circuitry, be it a transistor or ic... Because when everything is cold the lights work for a few seconds...... that is symptomatic of solid state devices starting to fail, as they get warm they quit working......

If you search on here there is all kinds of info about this. Very common issue. Send your cluster to lextech.org they can fix it and have a warranty for their work. They will make sure its not in the circuit.
