94 gs300 hard to start then dies
Hello my check engine light has come on and I took it to the autozone and they couldn't test it. Well when I took it back to my house and was about to go to the store it died about 20 seconds later. It takes about 10 seconds of cranking to start. After it is started it dies within 5 seconds if I do no give it gas around 3000 rpm. If I hold it at 3000 rpm it will drop to 2000rpm within 30 seconds. If I try to drive it, the car will die within 1 minute. About 3 weeks ago driving down the highway the check engine light came on and the car would not accelerate then would regain power all of a sudden. Is this a MAF sensor problem. If so can I clean this sensor?

Im also in Texas and it's been in the mid 100's past 3 days, I don't know if that matters but thanks in advance for any help. My neighbor works on cars all the time and has a bay right next door so any help I can pass onto him in the morning will be very helpful

Air, fuel, spark...you need all three to make the engine run. If it's dying out while its running and hard to start, the likelihood is something fuel or spark related as the air coming in usually doesn't have any problems getting into the engine unless your air filter is really really dirty. If it only started having problems after getting hot outside that could give you some kind of clue as to what's going on, perhaps something is overheating in the ignition system or a spark plug wire got melted through and is shorting out, it gets pretty dang hot under the hood in the summer. Perhaps the fuel pump is on it's way out (unlikely) or a fuel injector is not working properly?
