Default Oil change.... 5, 5.5 or 6 quarts?

Hey guys,

I can't find my user manual and did an oil change today. I put in 5 quarts and it was perfect on the dip stick.

I could have sworn it was 5.5 quarts according to the manual or maybe even 6.

Thanks!

manual says 5.4 with a smaller filter or 5.7 with a larger one. Toyota makes 2 size filters for the 2jz.

I put close to six quarts in too. I do add oil every 1500 miles or so. I use Moblie 1 full syn. Some say its not necessary but I prefer it.

being in florida, you'll want 10w-30. 5w would only be neccesary if you were in Alaska.... well really cold places anyway. There should be a graph in your owners manual

Wow, are you guys leaking oil or burning it? I am down about 1/2 quart after 4,000 miles and I do a change then. 5.4 quarts.

That was the same case with my old 85 Celica Convertible with the 22RE engine, but that sucker last forever with the exception of the valves rattles as if I was driving a diesel.

Now back to the post, I think the 2JZ used up to 5.5 quarts, but just put in 5 and check your dipstick just to make sure and add more if necessary.

again. The manual from my 94 says 5.4 or 5.7 pending on the size of the oil filter. Toyota makes 2 size filters. TRD also makes a new filter the size of the smaller OE filter. I get the bigger one and use 5.7.

Hardly ever burn up oil though. In the 5 years of owning it, I think theres been 4 occasions of having to add a little bit. But I've since done alot of maintenance and its been fine

I know people that use royal purple. Worth the $ if your into performance. Otherwise expensive. If not a performance person then stick with synthetic. I prefer a 50/50 mix myself.
