what is this worth?
Hey i'm new here and i have a question and could use some input from you experienced lexus guys. I have an opportunity to buy a 93 GS300 with a 2JZ swap. it has 143k miles, and the guy doesn't know how many miles are on the engine since it was a trade-in at a dealership. i've checked kbb.com and nadaguides.com and they valued it between $4800 and $5600. He's asking $5995 for it. what do you think it's worth and what should i look for when i go test drive it tomorrow?

yeah i know.
i'm a little skeptical about the swap though because the motor still has a lexus valve cover on it. check it out http://denver.craigslist.org/ctd/1025228615.html

There is probably 143k on that engine too. Doesn't appear to be a swap. Have an independent mechanic do a compression test. If it tests out the price isn't too bad but not amazing. Get more info like what size turbo is on it and what has been done for fuel management. You don't want to buy it and then drop another G on things it needs right away.

and another quick question:
would these wheels look good on the GS? they're black right now obviously but were originally silver. i thought about sand-blasting them back to silver. what are your opinions?

Yep, that is just a bolt on turbo kit not a GTE swap.
As for the wheels, they look like the ADR M-Sports wheel which is a pretty cheap wheel. You could probably get a set brand new for about $800. Not really my cup of tea. Be careful when sandblasting because you wont just take the black off you will take off the original silver paint too leaving it bare aluminum. If you ask me its alot of work for a inexpensive set of wheels

yeah i'm not gonna buy that one, the guy is really sketchy and didn't know anything about the car or the turbo or anything. i might just buy a stock one and eventually do the swap myself. as for the wheels, i think i'll sandblast them and then just have them clear coated. i like the wheels, they look good and they're somewhat light.
