CHeck engine and Traction lights on
Hey everyone, i just bought a 1994 gs300. It drives fine but the check engine light and the traction control light are both on. The traction control button has no effect on the light. Does this mean that the t/c is off? If something is wrong with the t/c, what typically goes wrong?
Im just trying to get a feel for what kind of fix I am in for.

It may not be a big deal, but the only way to know for sure is to pull the error code. This site explains how to pull the diagnostic information on OBD1 and also includes a chart explaining the codes:
http://www.troublecodes.net/Lexus/
O2 codes and EGR malfunction codes on these cars are very common, but you won't know what you've got until you know what the code is.
My understanding is that the TRAC light always comes on with the CEL in cars with traction control. Mine doesn't have that option, though, so I can't say for sure.

Ok, I pulled the codes today and I get code 71 for a bad egr. I see the writeup in the diy section and it mentions that this effects the TRAC light also. Is this correct? and if so will replacing my egr solve the TRAC light problem?
Also, I dont want to start another thread for it but is there ay way to find out why the airbag light is on?

yea. i dont fully know why either. but at work all the CELs we get always have the trac. light on. theres no code for it. it just disables the trac. when it has a CEL.
