REQUEST: How-To Remove Headlights w/ PICTURES
#34
Guys, how to remove this part? My BiXenon kit has it's own servo controlled plate and so I need to remove the factory plate as its no longer needed. Should I just cut and dremel it out?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Plus, let's be honest... who really "works" on their Lexus? That makes us elite AND unique :-)

update time boys and girls
I am now getting ready to modify the stock grey metal mount to accomodate my HID bixenon projectors.
picture 1 is the stock grey metal mount with most everything (level, reflector, etc) removed. Why remove everything? Because you are going to be cutting, sanding, and general beating the bejesus out of this thing before you are done.

remember, it's cool to keep things as stock as possible. That is why I am trying my best to preserve this piece and modify it, instead of making a brand new mount.
Why oh why did Lexus have to mold this metal piece with the cutoff shade as 1 piece!?! Say hello to my lil friends, dremel and hacksaw

..and.. oh noes we have a bit of a fitment issue. I believe this is different than what you may have seen in other HID retrofit threads, because most folks are using projectors that are significantly smaller than the stock diameter. Mine are at least the same size as stock if not bigger. I believe they are BMW E36 bixenon projectors.

this is my favorite shot. there is something so cool about a bimetal hacksaw. you can mess a lot of stuff up with it, and you've got to respect the power.
the cutoff shade, and ring are completely cut off here.

Oops, one problem, the bottom of the projector has a protruding piece of metal thingy. I need to notch the stock metal bracket to allow it to clear and get snug fitment before I continue.

So I notched it. That is enough for tonight. Next steps on this piece will be some fitment, some additional grinding/filing, and some sanding.
