Hi there!

Just wanted to share my latest upgrade mod -- the interior lighting. Early this month, a CL member goes by the name "Deknick" has created some DIY instructions on replacing the LED kits for our car. As he has stated in some of the threads that he wasn't sure whether the kits would work on our USDM. So here are some pictures:

I also replaced the footwells courtesy lights, all four-door courtesy lights, the two dome lights in the back seat compartment. Now I need to order some LED for the map lights as well. So far, everything holds up pretty well. It seems that all my tacho needles appear alot brighter after the replacing with the LED kits. I guess the white color brings out the red needles sharper. One of the most time consuming processes, as Nick has mentioned, was making sure all the LEDs working properly. You just have to flip the bulb the opposite way to get it lid up. My installer and I had to do numerous testings before getting it right. So just be patient and do like I did (if it helps you) -- draw the diagram and label all the spots you've replaced the bulbs. As you're testing the display, you can always refer back to your diagram and see which bulb needs to be adjusted. Nick's DIY instructions are pretty straight forward along with the illustrations -- that's big plus.

Wow, very very nice. I wish I know how to do this but I'm terrible with electronic. I like the way your GS look. I always wanted to color keyed the bottom to make it one tone, JDM front bumper, newer version of the rear "Aristo" taillights. Not only that, you even LED the whole interior lighting. I think we should have an even trade.
Where are you locate in CA by the way. I really want to check your car out in person.

Noticing this is a thread talking about LED's for the cluster along with the AC cluster and shifter lighting.

Does the DIY involve changing the LED's for the actual needles in the cluster. For example the Speedo needle and tach needle on my recently purchased '94 GS300 / Aristo have failed. They no longer light up, I am hoping there is a fix.

I see through searching in the DIY section that you can actually replace the needles. Can anyone provide a vendor where I might source the needles for the Tach/ Gas / Speedometer / Engine temperature maybe even in a color other than red?

question bout the interior lighting. I purchased LEDs ffrom superbrightleds. i read on the forum that 94 wedge bulb is what you need for the footwell lighting, but they wont lock in any idea why? Also does the trunk light have a fuse? i have a brand new bulb in there but no light? could it be the wires?

try turning the bulb 180 degrees. polarity

^ oh right 74 is what i meant. The problem is they work and light up, but i cant get the bulb to lock into the socket, like its too small or something. Any clue on why? And its doing it to both of the sides.

Jewel707 -- I purchased the LED kits from Nick, aka deknick, a member on this forum. The bulb I used for the footwell was simply plug and play without any issues. Try to compare the OEM bulb with the LED one, do you see any difference in size and shape?
