Yes, they work great.
Xenondepot.com. They are also a forum sponsor so if you have any other questions go to the lighting section and PM them.
Also, if you need more, just search, there are plenty of threads in this section about HIDs.

6000K is the color you want it is as close as you can get to the "real" thing you see on Acuras etc.

If you are referring to stock HID as the "real thing" then that is not true.

4300K is stock temperature color.

If you want everything lit up, go with 4300K or whatever is closest, besides 3000K, 3000K is yellow and it mainly for foglights but..ricers..what can you do?

8000K = Blue
10000K = Purple
You will light up less the higher you go, bigger number doesnt mean brighter, but higher temp. Stick with 6000K, I had some 6Ks on my Tundra and they were great.

Perhaps its due to the fact that those perticular bulbs are designed for a projector system.

Nitro, my brother got me a pair of HIDs for Christmas and when he installed them, there was a gap in the light pattern immediately in front of the car. Most of the light was thrown to the sides. Is this what you are seeing? The bulb design for the original kit was not suited for use in projector headlamps (and yes, you have projectors). He sold that kit and got me a pair from xenondepot.com. He confirmed with the guy there that they work with projectors and have been used on a number of first gen GS300s and SC3/400s.

I drove the car at night for the first time last night. The HIDs are incredible. I recommend getting them from xenondepot.com. They may be more expensive than what you have, but they work great and are worth it.
