Don't do the VVti motor, it's more of a pain. sell the VVTi motor and get the normal version. I'm too tired to explain all as to why ,but it's just easier.

As long as the connectors line up in the car it's pretty much the same as the non VVTi motor, but most of the connectors don't line up (at least was my experience). A non VVti motor, in a NON VVTi car, is as simple as extending the wiring harness 28" and plugging it in, and Vroooooom.

Felix I'm fairly certain the is300 diff will bolt in. I would recommend making sure its the stronger version. Also if you are going over 400whp just buy the TRD LSD for your diff. Its much stronger and will hold 800+ and you know it'll fit. Its the same diff for the turbo automatic supra.

Hey guys! I am going to do a TT swap... I am curious if you guys think I should replace anything else? I will probably do valve cover gaskets...

2jzgte Aristo half cut 3000
NGK spark plugs BKR6EGP 21.6
toyota oil filter 6.5
Pilot bearing 7.5
2jz thermostat 21
Timing belt 24.66
radiator hose set 32.5
water pump 151.29
24x12x3 intercooler 100
Universal 3” piping kit 115
Total for TT swap: 3480.05

I am considering using the hydro setup if its good from the aristo

I, personally, would NOT use the hyrdo fan setup. The only reason is serviceability later. It's an awful lot easier to fix the normal water pump if/when you have problems later down the line. (and get the actual toyota brand pump, it'll last a lot longer).

I was going to use a GTE water pump if it seemed easier.

Just wanted to check back in and thank Kaiser once again for starting this thread way back. Sure I contributed to the thread back then and even offered tips and advice, but it has been so long ago that I pulled my 2jzgte out and put it aside in my garage, that I just read this whole thread (14 pages!) as a refresher. Glad I did, I forgot about the tach jumper.

Looking forward to using my GTE once again!

Hey guys, thanks for the information. I've been dying to get a Supra but since I'm still paying my FR-S its not going to happen any time soon. SO I've been thinking about this build for the longest time. I found a 96 GS300 listed for $600 but the person who posted it only said needs TLC.... Sooooooo, I'm not sure if I should wait or jump on it. Hopefully the owner will contact me soon and give me an idea of what's going on with it. I have other projects going on. 3000GT VR4 rebuild, conquest with a rx7 transmission swap, and a camry with bent valves due to timing belt jump, so this will probably sit in storage till I can get to it. But man I've always been a fan of these.

For that price I would jump on it. Swapping to a 2jzgte engine with either a built auto or manual transmission is awesome! And you should consider that cars these old, to get into "supra" shape will need suspension, bushings, and work. But amazing it will be! I got my 93 GS for 750 and it had a blown transmission, and the motor ended up lasting me only a year but the shell was worth that itself now that I have a 2jzgte vvti and R154.

VVTI? how was the wiring for that? Did you just get the VVTI ecu and wiring harness? But unfortunately I haven't heard back from the seller. I found another one for $900 also but no response from them either. I'd honestly want to leave the auto since I have nothing but sticks. I'd want the GS to be a fast easy comfy car but ya, suspension would be on the list.

PS
When you say built auto, who would you recommend to build the auto trans? I thought about just getting the tt tranny with the 2jzgte and just leave it as is. I wouldn't want more than 350whp for the GS and I read that's within the limits of the stock tranny with a tranny cooler.

Stock TT tranny is fine then at that rwhp level.

I picked up the vvti ecu and harness with my motor and had panic wire do the wiring. It's a bit complicated I plan to do a write up some day for people. But yeah its not as straight forward as regular 2jzgte swaps
