Default Pics of inside of my dead diff

Well while back my diff started acting funny... then making weird sounds.... then it died. Luckily i got a replacement in time and for cheap and fixed everything. I was wondering what happened to it so i took it apart and this is what I found.

These are the pics of the removal of old diff and putting in of the new diff.

These are the pics of my old diff. Noticed the circled areas... that shaft should be in that hole and flush with the housing. What happened is the pins that hold it there broke off on both sides, the shaft moved back and forth and rubbed out a big hole in the house so the gears move around now. Also the gears got kinda smoothed down in some places.

yea.. still wondering if too much drifting caused those pins to break lol. But it was worth it since the diff only cost me $100 bux. The swap was easy.... no rusty screws to work with and no need for airtools.

i changed the oil at 80k and i'm at 107k now. It was nasty, like a grey cause of the metal shavings and stuff.
