how do i remove rear lower arm ?
how do i remove rear lower arm (trailing arm). Do i need to drop the cradle? What is up with the d shaped bolt. If someone could help me out im in trouble!. I need to get a pickle fork today to separate the upper ball joint but I need to replace the rear lower arm (trailing arm) the bushing in it is almost gone. my brake caliper has actually snapped off the car so I have no choice but to replace everything. The last person that worked on the car had rigged the caliper up so it went back together for looks but it didn't work. so i have these new parts:
control arm
knuckle
rear lower arm
lower ball joint
front lower arm right
shock
spring
caliper
rotor

I I'm going to have to give up on this one and let someone else do it. I would say that none of these bolts have ever been off the car and considering that I broke three impact sockets its time to let someone else suffer. At this point I dont have the patience. looks like I may have to drive one of my other cars for a day

I tried to take mine off last week with a pickel fork. Ruined the seal on the TRE (tie rod end)
Pissed me off. Theres another tool that looks like a steering wheel puller that would work.

I've got someone doing it right now. The pickle fork should have worked but my bolts wouldn't move at all, and I've got one of the best impact guns you can buy (875 ft pounds of torque) I snapped three impact sockets so I gave up before even touching the ball joints

Anyway, good to hear you got it handled.

I was amazed when they told me the had to cut the trailing arm out. All the bolts were probably frozen from the car stiing for so long before I got it. The cutting made me nervous, but he did an excellent job. It did take him from 10am til 7pm but it was well worth it. check my new thread
EG8- I have the Ir impact too- I think its the best guy you can buy. Its saved me before and i'm sure it will again
