I'm not sure if you guys know me to well but I been a member of the site for a few months now but I have not posted to much. Anyways, someone tried breaking into my `93 GS a few nights ago and destroyed the door lock unit on my passenger side door. At first I was unable to open the door at all but some how I got it open but my door will only open from the inside but not the outside door handle. I took off the door panel and I notice, the metal bars that move up and down when opening the door are completely bent and loose. Also the sensor which unlocks all the doors when entering the key on the passenger side has broken also.

I went our yesterday looking for the sensor and the door lock unit at local junkyards but I was not able to find one single GS. So I finally went to the dealer and the price for the door lock unit is $238 and the sensor is $111. Does anyone know a place where I can order the parts a little cheaper? I'm just trying to see if I have any other options before I give up my money. Thanx to all that reply.

Call Carson Toyota and ask for Steve. He's the best and tell him you're a CL member. Maybe he can hook you up with cheaper prices. Good luck man

My 2nd gen GS was broken into like 5 times....i was an expert towards the end at replacing door lock assemblies. Let me know if you need any help. I'm in the Newark area and wouldnt mind helping a CL brother out!

Sorry for not responding before. I got the situation solved about two weeks ago. I got the parts from Warnock Lexus in Livingston, NJ. Parts came up to $295, but my friend installed everything for free, so I did luck up in that category. But thanks for the replies.

had my 98 broken into, ordered a lock, and get this, my mechanic said that the right side door lock that i ordered is for the left hand driver side! guess i got shipped the wrong one? problem is i ordered it over a year ago, and I also paid to have the key match my key. so now, I wonder if i can sell the lock where the new owner has to make a key, or if i can actually use this lock's parts interior and somehow make it worK?

i've left it for a year to deter thieves since they'll see it is already broken, lol
