Default Will be trading my 94 GS300 in for a 2001-2002 GS300

Welp, I picked her up from the body shop, and she's just not the same anymore. It's a 94 GS300, tan, 126k miles, nice condition, but after the repair drivers door has a noticeably larger gap than the rest of the doors. Everything else was fixed perfectly.

Mechanically the car is great, engine runs like an expensive swiss watch, tranny is smooth, everything works like prescribed, except the CD changer doesn't always read CD's anymore, but it works for a while after i clean the lenses, so I should be able to conceal that defect.

Interior is clean and in very good shape, except the cupholder is broken, and the original wood on shift console was replaced by aftermarket.

Car has been very well maintained, oil changed every 2000k miles religiously, and my gf is the 2nd owner since 1998, when the car only had 40,000 miles.

Also, the car has a very nice alarm system with remote start. Two new tires up from, Good year Eagle GS-D3.

What do you guys think is a good price I might get from the dealer on the trade in?
Oh, yeah, another thing I was thinking about, is selling it, and waiting for 2006 GS to come out, so that I could get 2002 cheaper. Also, I've been considering TL-S, it's got a pretty peppy engine, but the interior is just too cheap looking.

The Acura TL-S and TL's, CL's in general have inherent defects with the transmissions. I don't know what years you are considering but even after all of the replacing that they did on the transmissions, they went on to use the same ones in the newly designed 2005 TL's. I had the 99 CL V6 which shared a simular transmission as the as the 3.2 TL's and TL-S (also CL / CL-S) and had it replaced twice, thank god that Acura extended warranty claims until 100,000 miles. I recently traded the car in a got a 93 GS300. The Acuras are definitely nice cars and are priced fair, but I personally wouldn't want a car with defects in the transmissions regardless of any extended warranties. Plus I love the Lexus reliabilty and the rear wheel drive, not to mention the classiness of the Lexus. You can read more about the faulty Acura transmissions on Acurazine.com

I see... I actually heard about these problems before, just wasn't sure how severe they are. On top of that the crappy interior, I start thinking that TL might not be a good choice. The only thing is that it has 260 HP, which is nicer than 220 of GS300, but then it doesnt have smooth inline 6 and RWD.

Anyhow, I just hope I can get a decent number for my GS when I trade it in.

Well, you're probably going to get raped on trade in. I bought my 93 with 116,000 miles at Sewell Lexus pre0owned for $7200 including TT&L. This means the dealer gave a considerable amount less for the car, which was a trade-in. I wouldn't expect more than $4500 or so especially with the fact that its been wrecked. You may be luck though.

I'd let it go for around 5,000

Cool

You're better off selling it to a fellow enthusiast or a private sale as you'll get more! However, if you decide to trade it in , wait untill they have a big sale at thye dealership on the car you want. Like push, pull, drag it in guaranteed $5000 for your trade in. Make the deal, then when it's made say, oh, btw I have a trade in!
