FREE Sirius System Offer good until 6/16/03 or when supplies run out :)
SIRIUS is once again offering the Friends and Family Program. This
program allows participants to receive hardware absolutely free (select
options below), while you cover installation and subscription costs.
Orders for hardware must be placed between 5/1/03 and 6/16/03. Please
note that hardware quantities are limited. If the first choice for
hardware is not available, participants will be given the option of
alternate hardware (if available). The following hardware is readily
available for Friends and Family participants and all equipment choices
can be viewed at www.sirius.com
- Audiovox FM Modulated kit with antenna (model SRSIR-001FM)
- Jensen FM Modulated kit with antenna (model SSR2000 FM)
If the participant installs and activates their unit prior to 6/16/03,
any programming package can be selected. After 6/16/03, SIRIUS will
activate an annual subscription fee of $142.45 to the credit card
indicated at the time the product order was taken. The regular
activation fee ($15 if activation done through the Call Center, $5 if
activated over consumer Web site) applies to participants along with any
applicable taxes.
In order to participate, please follow the process outlined below:
- Participant calls 1-800-466-9742 to place hardware order Monday -
Saturday, during the hours of 10am - 7pm EST or by faxing orders to
1-877-855-1233.
- Participants will be asked to provide address (both shipping and
billing), phone, type of hardware requested, credit card information and
referring employee's name (Elvia in Customer Care). Hardware will be shipped within 72 hours to
the shipping address indicated at order.
- Installation needs to be arranged by the participant at a local
retailer.
After the unit is installed, participants call the SIRIUS Customer Care
center at 888-539-7474 to activate programming.
If you are interested in this program, please place your order as soon
as possible as quantities are limited.

Just recieved mine in the mail today.
Besides the fact that the tape holding two wires together nearly stripped the plastic off that part of the wire, it seems cool.
I haven't been able to finish the install yet. I was hoping it was going to be more 'plug and play', but it's not.
O well. Looks like i'm skipping school tommorow

Yeah.. if any of you purchased a Kenwood Aftermarket HU from Tweeter (formally HiFi Buys) within the past year you can get a free Sirius Tuner.. you just must pay for the antennae ($50) and install ($80) since the tuner costs nearly $160 you will save about $85-90 bucks including tax. Of course subscription and activation is additional.
Kenwood had a promotion for this which recently expired but Tweeter is still honoring it for the units they have in stock for good past customers.
I have the Sirius unit in my 1st Gen GS3 and i love it so far. Most who have compared the two favor Sirius over XM.. i haven't had the opportunity to make the comparison myself. But from what i hear from sales reps is that Sirius has more commerical free channels and is more of a digital signal.

yup...
It used to be that XM had better quality last year back when Sirius was just starting up.. but Sirius quickly caught up in Novembe last year on the quality and then surpassed XM in Feb. with upgrades
...BTW: Sirius is 100% commercial free while XM has only 36 commercial free streams...

Offer now set to expire September 30, 2003....
This offer is still going on- I just signed up today, using the phone number shown above.
I used "John McMullen of the Out Q show" as my reference.
That website www.siriusbackstage.com has more recent information - I joined that forum, too.
This is gonna be a nifty toy, but it will be a challenge installing the AudioVox PnP in my SC without it messing up the looks of my interior too much. Plus, I hope the built-in FM modulator is strong enough to reach my rear-mounted antenna.

Hi Keith! Yeah, most of them do, but the new AudioVox PnP "Shuttle" unit they offer comes with the SIR-CK1 kit, which has a wireless FM modulator built in.
Or I could have choosen the Kenwood unit, which has a cassette adaptor. I picked the AudioVox due to the larger display.
Speaking of sound systems, what did you end up doing with your woofer upgrade?

Not much, the speakers are sitting next to my headers collecting dust in my garage! Its a shame.
I finally put in my head unit a week ago, and I'm using the amp in the headunit for now, untill I can buy my new amps. But a speaker is out of phase, annoying as hell, so now I have to figure out which one is off. Not fun. Just takes a good hour+ to dedicate to it. Its sad how when you get older, finding that one hour is damn near impossible. I can remember spending entire afternoons on my car, now its a struggle to dress the tires.
I replaced the factory speakers w/ Boston Pros. 5.25 in the doors w/ tweets and (4) 6"'s in the rear deck w/ a small box per pair. I'm not running a sub right now, and thinking about wiring the factory sub/amp off the headunit low level outs to hold me over for the next few months.
I'll probably get some sound deadening material and line the whole car; but that just takes a long time, so who knows. I might just buy it and put it next to the speakers and headers in the garage......I need to stop doing that!
My decision is still out on wether to put a pair of subs in the trunk, or to just replace the existing one. I just have too much going on right now to figure things out. Hell, it took me over 2 years to install the damn headunit.- seriously! That, BTW was collecting dust in my closet.
Thanks for the inquiry though!
