Central Florida to Host Largest Car Show for Charity in Southeast United States to Benefit Lung Health
ORLANDO, Fla. – Lamborghinis, Bugattis, Porsche, and Aston Martins are just a few of the over 150 cars that will line the streets of Colonial TownPark for the largest charitable car show in the Southeast United States. Central Florida’s 2012 Cars for the Cure will showcase an array of the most distinctive and unforgettable cars from around the world, with proceeds from the day long, family festival to benefit the American Lung Association in Central Florida.
This year’s event, which is free and open to the public, is presented by the Orlando Premiere Collection, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 4, 2012 at Colonial TownPark in Lake Mary. Spectators of all ages can take photos beside their favorite cars, and enjoy the unique shops and food and drink specials provided by the American Lung Association and Colonial TownPark restaurants.
“Cars for the Cure is instrumental to helping our organization to achieve the goal to have a lung health program in every school and hospital across Central Florida,” said Janelle Middents, regional director of the American Lung Association in Central Florida. “Last year, the American Lung Association of the Southeast reached nearly 33,000 people through our lung disease programs; the funds raised through this event helps to make that number a reality.”
Sponsors who generously contribute to Cars for the Cure include: The Orlando Premier Collection: Orlando Infiniti, Jaguar, Lotus, and Aston Martin; Classic Audi, Fields Autogroup; Granny Nannies, Mercedes-Benz of Sanford, Evolution Auto, Holler Hyundai, and Ultimate Motorworks Inc. Corporate sponsors will be hosting interactive booths at the event and the American Lung Association in Central Florida will also be on site to help promote lung health and bring awareness to lung disease, the third leading cause of death in the U.S.
Cars for the Cure started eight years ago when local businessman, Rob Hodgson, CEO of Granny Nannies, a home health care agency in Central Florida, created the event to raise money for the American Lung Association following the passing of one of his co-workers from lung cancer.
The American Lung Association in Central Florida hopes to raise $100,000 from this year’s expo to fight lung disease and promote lung health. Colonial TownPark in Lake Mary, the site of the 2012 event, is located off of SR 46A (I-4 exit 101a) in Lake Mary/Heathrow.
