The RX came in Wednesday, had them install the dvd players in the headrest for the boys and picked it up yesterday. My only complaint is the black floormats with the tan interior. They look so out of place. Here are some pics.

Guys, what's the latest buzz on those runaway cars? I guess you know what happened here in San Diego, CA: 2008 ES350 killed a family. 911 records have been released. It;s on YouTube. I made a research and it turns out that this problem has been around for 30 years. Forget about the floor mats - rediculous excuse. Some experts have proved a fault in cruise control devices not only in Toyota cars. However, RX350 is not on the black list: I have not heard from anybody about its possible "runaway" behavavior. May be I should have the cruise control removed from my RX just in case? Cold sweat. :egads:

Gas mileage so far has been about 23 GPH. Now the ugly stuff. The Nav system is not as good as my Tom Tom. We always seem to average 45 MPH. To not be able to change the Nav in motion is the most stupid idea ever. Would not take Albuquerque, NM when I was in Amarillo, had to change region, another dumb idea. I will have to program todays itinerary before I leave the Hotel, bummer. Also changed time zones in NM, nope couldn't do that until I stopped. Stay tuned.

In my computer the Dow ticker symbol is ^DJIA. But the XM Stocks keyboard does not have the character ^? Has anybody figured this yet? In fact there are plenty of stock indexes that begins with that character. For example NASDAQ is ^IXIC.

Had 10k service done last week. Cost about $250! Oil change, tire rotation, inspections, loaner. The biggest jump was $75 for the oil, compared to our 05RX, where $150 got you the same service. Wondering what others are paying at their respective stealerships.

I tried to remove my roof rack but couldn't get the end caps off (2010). I decided to go to the Lexus dealer and ask them how. One person their didn't believe I had a Hybred with a rack and walked out to my RX to see it. He told me that Lexus isn't putting the rack on the 450 because of the 1/2 to 1 mile of mileage loss it causes. Then the service manager and a tech walked out to look also. They said that Lexus drills holes into the roof to mount the rack and removing it would leave holes I couldn't seal from the rain. I find this hard to believe but dumber things have happened. Has anyone added or removed a roof rack on an RX450H, or even a 350?

i've discussed the issue w/ some of you in other threads

for those unaware of the issue, some of us experience a rattle coming from the left of the drivers head

went to dealer who faulted shoulder belt assembly for rattle & replaced it

this did not resolve my problem

after closely listening to the rattle, i found it was coming from just forward of the B pillar in the drivers door

i can feel the door moving around on the highway when i stick my fingers between the door & frame

thought spraying lithium grease on the door seals might remedy the rattle

while doing so i found the real culprit

there's a plastic window shroud/trim piece inside the door

i sprayed some grease on the plastic where i heard the rattle

haven't heard rattle in a week now

felt stickers might be a better solution

I placed my cell phone in the center console. I know its really a cup holder but I put the phone in there anyway. The cell phone slided and fell on that small space on the left edge. There is a small space in there. I can not open the cover and I can not extricate the cell phone. I have to take it in.

The Lexus service said they have to remove the entire center console assembly to get to the cell phone. They charged me $50. Isn't this a design flaw? The service manager told me that he got a phone call yesterday from a lady who lost her ring in the same spot and have to take the car in also.

Be careful about that space.

After we agreed on a payment to him, he took my car in but after 10 mins he came back and told me some story about how if he activates DVD in motion there might be consequences with the ABS of the car.

Could this be possible or was he just scared to do it?
