I thought she had the 17" wheels, but turns out they're 18". These are Michelin LX4 Energy (OE) Tires 225/65-17. I don't really want to deal with the hassle of returning to Tire Rack, so if anyone wants them in the Wash DC area, I'm willing to sell them for $525. They cost me $607 (shipped) from Tire Rack. After it was in the service shop for a punch list visit, the technician wrote that the dash socket was only a power outlet and that no lighter was originally installed in the 2d generation RX. What do I know? Is that true? I do note that lighters pulled from a Camry doesn't fit (too small). Just curious since current Lexus models seem to still have lighters....Can anyone "enlighten" me? Not sure how that happened, perhaps when I grabbed my laptop bag from the passenger side. Latest in a series of problems with the center console on my 2004 RX. At 30K they replaced the entire unit as it would no longer open or close. I am the only driver and hardly ever use the console to be honest.

The button will pop back in and will stay in place, however, the spring attached is of poor construction, very thin, and has seen better days. Would like to replace with better if possible.

Dealer says the spring(s) are not available separate. You need to purchase a new center console at $100+. Not worth it at that cost. Will check the local auto salvage to see if they have any RX's on the lot.

Was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on a route I might take on this repair or if anyone else has had a similar problem.

I got the kit working and was able to thread the ipod cable to the glove box. I am trying to see now if I can move it to the center console box instead which is a more convenient location. I am guessing I can thread the ipod cable from the back of the radio assembly straight down to the floor and bring it under the lower console cover into the console. To do this I need to remove the console to get the wire under the console and thread the wire through a new hole in the rear console compartment. I found some instructions here how to remove the center console. How do I remove the two side left and right side plastic panels that go from the floor up to the radio panel?

My goal is to get this vehicle handling a little more like a car and less like the leaning tower of piza on wheels!

I am looking at buying some 18's after the snow falls, ices up and melts in a few months time.

Are there any suspension changes i should consider. I don't want to fork out an arm and a leg on changes, as i want to invest money in my 2 other cars.
